the scene of rural india is changing fast

all MNCs are eyeing the rural market to push their consumer durables .

it is a huge consumption story with increased rural incomes and spending.

more than the india growth story it is the rural prosperity story which has gone unnoticed.
 
Management guru Prahalad after his core competence model, developed the bottom of the pyramid model especially for developing countries with large population. The white goods sector was advised by him to pay attention to the people at the bottom of the economic ladder. He is right of course.
 
Two years ago, in a local mobile store, I was trying to buy a scratch guard for my galaxy nexus. Next to me was a rural maratta middle aged man with katcham, jibba and white topi, bargaining for a phablet, bought it for rs. 17000, got into an argument with the shop for not giving a cover, and eventually bought a cover for rs 500.
Even ordinary looking vegetable sellers (in carts) carry cash upto 10000. It is difficult to judge the worth of ordinary looking and simply dressed folk.
