When no one reports this waste of precious water to the Panchayat board , why should not you do that.? That is the mentality of we indians irrespective of their caste and creed. Even God will fail in his attempt to correct us.

The problem is that our civic consciousness is very low. We give scant respect to public property and we feel that every one has a right to abuse them. A lot of water is wasted in houses employing servants to clean the vessels. The tap is kept open full while washing is going on. The very same servants would be scrounging for water in their own shanties or colonies. Unfortunately they do not realise the importance of judicial use of water nor their masters teach them.

vsubbu Sir

Yes, you are absolutely right; women folks who keep the vessels under public taps often go away with the result the bucket or the Kodam is over flowing resulting in lot of water wastage; the tap is not properly closed also.
Thanks for your thought on this.

A dead man switch was provided in all rail engines; the driver has to keep it pressed with his palm else the engine will come to a halt. There was one rare case when the driver died and fell on the switch.

All taps must be converted to press to open. Flow will stop when the lady leaves the tap unattended.

There was another video in which a village cow operated the hand pump with its horns when it wanted a drink.

P.s.Narashiman sir

These leaking tap pipes can not be closed easily, it will be rotating.
Even the pipes which carry the water to taps have holes which needs to be closed only by Panchayat board mechanics.

Thank you Mr P.J Sir,
From all the replies recd.for your post, one thing is clear, that everybody wants to pass the buck to others, by telling so many irrelevant things. My post was very clear asking you "why you should not report the matter to panchayat." ? The civic sense is very poor even in our own community
who are said to be well educated.

Not only that, a long line of Vessels of all sizes are kept , and no one would dare to disturb any thing because of repercussions one would receive; The women folk normally keep some cloth over their vessels to filter dirt etc. and no one would listen to any advice .
