If God understands all languages, why chant in Sanskrit?

First, we must clarify something. Sanskrit is not used because God understands only Sanskrit. In Sanatana Dharma, God is not a linguistic being waiting for a preferred language. The Divine is consciousness itself. The question is not what language God understands. The real question is what language best transforms the human system.

Physics tells us that vibration organizes matter. Cymatics experiments show that specific frequencies create precise geometric patterns in sand or water. If vibration can influence physical matter, it is reasonable that it can influence the subtle human system such as breath rhythm, nervous regulation, and brain waves. Sanskrit is a highly phonetic language where each syllable is pronounced from a specific point in the vocal tract. The Vedic tradition carefully mapped guttural, palatal, cerebral, dental, & labial sounds, creating a full-spectrum vibrational activation. When chanted correctly, mantras regulate breath, stimulate neural pathways, & align internal resonance.

Agama Shastra extends this principle into temple science. A temple is not just a prayer hall but an engineered energy structure. The murti is consecrated through Prana Pratishtha, which involves mantra repetition, sound resonance, geometric alignment, water, milk, fire, & rhythmic vibration. Abhishekam with water or milk is not symbolic alone; liquids are natural conductors & can hold vibrational imprint. You cannot install random sound into that system. It is similar to software architecture. If a platform is built in a particular programming language, it must be maintained within that same structural logic.

This does not mean you cannot pray in Tamil, Hindi, English, or any language of your heart. Personal prayer is about devotion. But mantra operates as calibrated sound technology. Sanskrit functions like a precise vibrational coding system preserved carefully across generations. The Divine may not require Sanskrit, but the human nervous system and consecrated temple structures were designed around it. There is a difference between speaking to God and activating a system. One is emotional communication. The other is energetic engineering.
