Hungary Declares Emergency As It Blocks Migrants At Border

September 15, 2015

Hungary declared a crisis in two southern counties today, as crowds of migrants were halted in Serbia, having missed the midnight deadline before the new and stricter laws took effect.

The new laws require people to enter Hungary only with passports and at official border posts — a requirement bolstered by a 110-mile fence along the Serbian border. Asylum cases are to be reviewed by courts.

Today, the scene along that border is starkly different than on many recent days. Around 200,000 refugees and migrants have crossed into Hungary this year; many of them are among the more than 4 million people who have fled violence in Syria since 2011.

Describing the scene at one former processing area in southern Hungary, Lauren Frayer reports for our Newscast desk:
"Aid agencies are dismantling huge tents. Cleanup crews rake trash into piles. Portable toilets are loaded onto trucks.
"Thousands of migrants who'd slept rough in this cornfield for days have been bused to the Austrian border. The Serbian border here is sealed. People can only cross through official border posts. The railway tracks where they had streamed into Hungary by the tens of thousands are now blocked with barbed wire.
"New laws make it illegal to tamper with that new fence or climb over it — punishable with up to three years in prison."

Lauren says that the authorities have detained dozens of people since the new laws took effect at midnight.

The move to stiffen border controls comes one day after Hungary sent police and soldiers to form a human chain along the border ahead of the midnight deadline, as the Two-Way reported Monday.

The tightened border has created a new problem for people hoping to cross Hungary and find a new life in the European Union.

The BBC reports:
"Around midday there were tense scenes as hundreds streamed towards the fence, some searching for a way through and others starting a sit-down strike, throwing down food and water in protest at not being granted passage."

Finally Europe has woken up to the real problem of an unarmed invasion. The refugees will now assert their asylum birth right by resorting to violence. The EU needs to take concerted status not by accepting refugees but by deploying troops to stop the barbarians at the gates. That is the only way the Arabs can be pushed back into Arabia.

I think too much is being made of a few thosand refugees getting into europe.

India has been absorbing lakhs of refugees from east bengal, srilanka and we take it in our stride.

western media has a way of inflating small things into a global crisis if there is a minor change in their lifestyle due to migrants.

when thousands turned to india from east pakistan before 1971, the western countries cared too hoots about the issue.

even today we are living with the issue of displaced persons from pakistan after partition in 1947 and migration from east pakistan now bangla desh.

in fact demography of assam and hill states has changed due to bangladeshis.

gorkhas of nepalese origin have made bengal their home and demanding gorkhaland.

India handles these issues maturely and does not raise hue and cry,

India cannot just keep effective watch over all of its natural borders with neighbouring countries; it is a humanly impossible task. Secondly, India has been a highly populated state with a majority of its people at or near the poverty line and without any worthwhile infrastructure or living comforts for the border villages. Thirdly India has had close links, all through history, with its neighbours Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and even Tibet and China; so people used to come and go. Due to all these reasons, India tries its best to check illegal entry without making much of a noise.

But the european countries' position is different. Though now not doing well, as a result of various developments, the european countries have had much less population density and, as a consequence, better living standards, even when the east-european countries were in the soviet bloc. They now don't want to forego any of these standards due to refugees coming in and competing with them for the available pie. The attitude of most european countries will be the same; only hungary has shown it overtly, I feel.

Many disturbing news about the refugees are yet to get main media attention and suitable action by the destination countries and, USA and UN.
1. More than 80 % of the refugees are male and most of them are youth. It is rumoured that not all are from war affected syria, but from masadonia and and not affected countries.
2. The fleeing refugees flaunt iphones, sportswear and their relative affluence.
3. A few ISIS jihadis were spotted among the refugees, but many might have escaped detection.
4. Pope has warned about jihadi elements among refugees, and is not ruling out threat to vatican. Sicily is barely 400 kms away from a violent islamic country.
5. About 1000 took a march in Birmingham UK in support of refugees and want B'ham to accept more and make it city of refuge.
6. Most horrible revelations from eye witnesses is women and children were thrown int sea to die to reduce numbers seeking asylum and to increase chances of acceptance.
7. A few churches are converting to be christians, but what this will lead to is to is anybody's guess.

India is not a small and prosperous country like most of the European Nations. Also the refugees coming to India are either Hindus, Buddhists or Muslims and accommodating them is not a problem; whereas the refugees going to European Nations seeking asylum are mostly Muslims which are dominated by Christians and to a certain extent Jews.

But then why do you say it is not a problem? It is really a serious problem in Assam where the Banglas are taking over their state. India should raise a hue and cry. Instead the Cong govt would have converted the imposters into vote bank. Sometimes silence is not golden.
