[h=1]In Tamil Nadu patients found positive for disease after Elisa test, are advised to take Siddha remedies like ‘nilavembu’, a Siddha decoction that helps reduce the spread of the dengue-causing virus in the human body, and this is made available at all government hospitals to prevent the disease. It is also made available at the primary health centres and Siddha hospitals in the state.[/h][h=1][/h][h=1]Haryana cancels lease of Fortis Gurgaon that charged Rs 16 lakh for 15-day dengue treatment[/h]
Haryana government has cancelled the lease of the Gurgaon Fortis Hospital that charged Rs 16 lakh for dengue treatment.

Haryana government has cancelled the lease of Gurgaon's Fortis Hospital that charged Rs 16 lakh for a 15-day dengue treatment of a seven-year-old girl, who later died.
Adya Singh (7), diagnosed with dengue shock syndrome, was admitted to Dwarka's Rockland Hospital on August 28, with high fever.

The doctors there treated her like any other dengue patient and later after two days she was referred to Gurgaon's Fortis.

Adya was admitted in Fortis for two weeks- where over the course of her treatment she was shifted to the ICU and also incubated. But the seven-year-old's condition never improved.

Jayant Singh, Adya's father said that the hospital kept pumping her with drugs one after the other, all the while when the family kept asking doctors to do an MRI or CT scan.

On September 14, when an MRI was finally performed, the doctors informed the parents that Adya's brain was damaged up to 80 per cent and suggested a 'body plasma transplant'- which would have costed another Rs 16 lakh.

The seven-year-old succumbed on the same day, with her parents left with a bill of 15,79,322- that adds up to more than a lakh per day.

[h=3]The report responds to a seven-year-old girl’s family’s claims that they were being cheated by Fortis hospital and pulls up the hospital on several counts.[/h]New Delhi: The Haryana government has acted swiftly on the case of “overcharging” at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, in which a seven year old suffering from dengue died and her parents received a bill of Rs 15 lakh.

A four-member committee has submitted a long report to the government. In it they deal with various issues which have emerged, such as the father’s claims that Fortis hospital tried to settle the case by offering him Rs 25 lakh along with a full refund, and that signatures of the parents were forged.

They have recommended that the case be sent to the Medical Council of India for action against the senior doctors treating the child.

This report was in compliance with an order from the government of Haryana on November 21, 2017.

The committee specifies that the child had been suffering from dengue shock syndrome, and “not mere dengue fever”, along with multi-organ dysfunction syndrome and had been admitted to the hospital in an emergency condition. The mortality is high in cases of dengue shock syndrome, ranging from 6% to 30%, says the report. It also clarifies that the payment of Rs 15 lakh was for the intensive care unit treatment and not for dengue fever itself.
