New Delhi: After closing down four-year undergraduate degree courses in universities, the Union government has directed closing down of five-year integrated or dual-degree MBA programs.
The human resource development ministry-controlled All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the technical education regulator of the country, has directed universities and independent management schools to shut down such courses from the current academic session.
Those who are already pursuing such courses will be allowed an exit option but there will be no fresh admission for the courses. “The AICTE has decided the following: the dual degree courses have been closed (sic) and no fresh admission should be permitted from AY (academic year) 2016-17,” said the circular issued to all institutions.
