Govinda-ashtakam

The form on which we develop devotion or bhakti is not the real form. Bhakti leads to ‘tattva’ jnAna, which actually leads to realizing ‘us’ says mahAperiyavA.

Govinda ashtakam extols Krishna as the ‘Govinda’, comparing their attributes. Krishna is the object of devotion, but through Krishna we realize the attributes of Govinda.

Ga means moving. Go are anything that 'moves' or that functions. Go could refer to sun, our senses, prakrti, cattle etc etc.. vinda is that enlivens, gains, gets etc. Go-vinda is the mover of all the motions& functions. Govinda is the puruSa.

Like Govinda, Krishna causes mammoth effects, cannot be caught, remains detached, restores equilibrium, divides yet remains neutral, gives troubles to help evolution, dances to remove negativity, keeps smiling ever.
