A lady holding a tanpura with a large bindi on her forehead, marks the pictorial representation of Carnatic vocalist, MS Subbulakshmi.
Google has marked the 97th birth anniversary of Subbulakshmi, the country's first musician to be have been awarded with the Bharat Ratna, with a customary doodle.
Subbulakshmi,was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay award in 1974 and Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour, in 1998.
Today's Google doodle features a portrait of Subbulakshmi playing the tanpura along with other instruments used in Carnatic music such as ghatam, tabla and mridanga.
