Just two day back the Supreme Court has passed orders banning Registration of BS III vehicles.

And now banned Highway liquor vends and bars…

Dry way on the highway: Supreme Court's 2016 ban on liquor sales comes into effect today

The Supreme Court refused to modify a ban it placed last year on the sale of liquor along highways.


Shops, hotels and eateries along India's highways that sell liquor can't do so starting today, after the Supreme Court refused to modify a ban it placed on such establishments last year.

Liquor vendors located within 500 metres of a national or state highway cannot sell alcohol. But the Supreme Court has said that in municipal bodies with a population of 20,000 or less along the highways, the distance is 220 metres.

The ban that comes into effect today isn't exactly a bolt from the blue. Here's a short timeline of events that led up to it.

நெடுஞ்சாலைகளில் உள்ள டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளை மூட உச்சநீதிமன்றம் அதிரடி உத்தரவிட்டதன் எதிரொலியாக, தமிழக நெடுஞ்சாலைகளில் உள்ள 3303 கடைகள் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.சென்னையின் முக்கிய சாலைகளான கிழக்குக் கடற்கரை சாலை,வடபழனி நூறடி சாலை,பூந்தமல்லி நெடுஞ்சாலை,ஜிஎஸ்டி சாலை என்று அனைத்து நெடுஞ்சாலைகளிலும் தமிழக அரசால் நடத்தப்பட்டு வந்த மதுபானக் கடைகள் நிரந்தரமாக மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.

எப்படியும் டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளை மூடாமல் காலம் தாழ்த்திவிடலாம் என்ற தமிழக அரசின் இறுதி வாதமும் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் எடுபடாமல் போய்விட்டது.உச்சநீதிமன்றத் தலைமை நீதிபதி ஜே.எஸ்.கெஹர், நீதிபதிகள் சந்திரசூட், நாகேஸ்வரராவ் அமர்வின் முன்பு தமிழக அரசு சார்பில்,நெடுஞ்சாலையோர மதுக்கடைகளை அகற்ற வரும் நவம்பர் 28ம் தேதி வரை அவகாசம் வேண்டும் என்று கூறப்பட்டது.மேலும்,தமிழகத்தின் மாநகராட்சிகள் மற்றும் நகராட்சிப் பகுதிகளில் உள்ள டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளுக்கு விலக்கு அளிக்க வேண்டும் என்றும்,நெடுஞ்சாலைகளில் 100 மீட்டருக்கு அப்பால் மதுக்கடைகளை நடத்த அனுமதி அளிக்க வேண்டும் எனவும் தமிழக அரசு சார்பில்,நீதிபதிகள் முன்பு வாதம் வைக்கப்பட்டது.

ஆனால் எந்த வாதத்தையும் நீதிபதிகள் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாமல் டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளை உடனடியாக இழுத்துமூட வேண்டும் என்று கடுமையான உத்தரவை பிறப்பித்தனர்.இதனால் நேற்று மாலை முதல் தமிழக நெடுஞ்சாலைகளின் ஓரமாக உள்ள டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளை,டாஸ்மாக் அதிகாரிகள் மீண்டும் கணக்கெடுக்கத் தொடங்கினர்.அவற்றில் பெரும்பாலான கடைகள் மூடவேண்டிய நிலையில் உள்ளன என்று அறிந்து அதிர்ந்துள்ளனர்.பின்னர் வேறு வழியில்லாமல், பட்டியலில் இருந்த 3303 டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளின் ஊழியர்களுக்கு,'வேறு இடம் பார்த்து கடைகள் திறக்க ஏற்பாடுகள் நடக்கின்றன.மறு உத்தரவு வரும் வரை தற்போது நீங்கள் வேலை செய்யும் கடைகளை மூடிவிடவும்' என்று ஆணையிட்டுள்ளது டாஸ்மாக் நிர்வாகம்.

இது தொடர்பாக நம்மிடம் பேசிய டாஸ்மாக் ஊழியர்கள் சங்கத்தின் பிரதிநிதி ராமு ,"டாஸ்மாக் கடைகள் மூடும் நடவடிக்கையில் பின்வாங்காத உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டதையடுத்து தமிழக அரசு வேறு வழியில்லாமல் கடைகளை மூடச் சொல்லியுள்ளது.அதன்படி சென்னையின் நெடுஞ்சாலைகளில் உள்ள அனைத்துக் கடைகளும் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.வட சென்னையில் 21 கடைகளும்,தென் சென்னையில் 28 கடைகளும்,மத்திய சென்னையில் 30 கடைகளும் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.மேலும்,காஞ்சிபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் 124 கடைகளும்,சேலம் மாவட்டத்தில் 137 கடைகளும்,கோவையில் 140 கடைகளும் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.தமிழகம் முழுக்க 3,303 கடைகள் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன.

சென்னையின் வடபழனி நூறடி சாலையில் உள்ள கடைகள்,கோயம்பேடு மார்க்கெட் பகுதியைச் சுற்றியிருந்த கடைகள்,கிழக்குக் கடற்கரை சாலை,பழைய மகாபலிபுரம் சாலையில் உள்ள கடைகள் என்று பெரும்பாலான டாஸ்மாக் மதுபானக் கடைகள் மூடப்பட்டுவிட்டன.ஆனால் இந்தக் கடைகளில் பணியாற்றிய ஊழியர்களின் நிலையைக் கொஞ்சமும் எண்ணிப் பார்க்காமலும் அவர்களுக்கு மாற்று வேலை வழங்காமலும் தமிழக அரசு இந்த நடவடிக்கையில் இறங்கியுள்ளது."என்று தெரிவித்தார்.

What one fails to understand is the bias in reporting on the part of the Medias.

While they give more publicity for UP Government’s closing illegal slaughter houses, they is no much reports on Mamata issuing Show Cause Notice to 125 schools which are running without NOC.

Why news pertaining to Education is pushed to the back seat…? Why there is no hue and cry..?

Who prevented those who own slaughter houses in Lucknow to get the valid license from the Authorities concerned..

Action is initiated only against the slaughter houses which are running without license illegally.

When it is concerned with food we consume, exercising conditions on hygiene should be welcomed.

There is also more hue and cry on UP Governments move “Anti-Romeo’ Squad.

Perhaps more like to live with a ruling the Government which is inactive but make tall promises. LOL
