In the 1920s, plague and cholera ravaged the whole of Tamil Nadu. Sri Ranganatha Kanapadigal, the village chief, created a patta land and installed Sri Sangu Mariamman in a small hutment so that the village folk could do the necessary pujas to wave away the diseases. People said that after the installation and pujas to Mariattha,it was a well-known fact that there was not a single death on account of the plague, etc., as Ambal took all the deaths and diseases of the villagers upon herself by sweating. The sweat formed like pearls on her body (Because of the fact She is also called Muthumariamman). In 1970, Sri Ranganatha Kanapadigal’s grandsons, the Vijayaraghavan brothers made an effort and built a temple for Ambal. Now the village people with Vijayaraghavan brothers formed the Sri Sangu Mariamman Charitable Trust(Regd.) and are renovating it as per the Aagama Sastras to conduct the necessary pujas. In this project, the trust has estimated 17 lakh rupees to renovate it completely with Rajagopuram ( It is a known fact that building the Rajagopuram will bring out the blessings of Ambal to everybody) to be constructed on top of Ambal’s Gharpagraham. Now the village people with Vijayaraghavan brothers formed the Sri Sangu Mariamman Charitable Trust(Regd.) and are renovating it as per the Aagama Sastras to conduct the necessary pujas. By Ambal’s blessings, the trust started collecting donations from villagers and known people to the tune of 6 lakhs and started renovation work. We, the trustees decided to proceed our renovation on stage by stage to avoid any kind of financial irregularities and corruption. Now, we are at the final stage of completion and in the process of preparing for Mahakumbhabhishekam. We, the trustees, humbly request you to donate as much as you wish to complete the remaining work and make the Maha Kumbabishekam successful and have the blessings of Sri Sangu Mariamman for a disease-free happy life.We are in the final stage of completion and in the process of Mahakumbabhishekam.
