A memorable cricket match indeed ! The aggression shown by the Australian batsmen in the power play (Khawaja & Aaron scoring almost 60 in the first six overs) made many of us feel that the match was slipping out of the hands of Indian team. But, decent bowling by India in the middle overs restricted the Australian total to 160.(Actually with a better bowling, we could have restricted them to below 150). Neverthless, when India started batting - the debacle was visible. Dhawan, Sharma and Raina played irresponsibly and were out due to poor shots. At that time, India were tottering at 49 for 3 in 7.4 overs. When Yuvraj Singh joined Kohli, the slide (by losing the wicket) was averted - but the asking rate mounted up. At one stage, I wanted Yuvraj to get out ! It happened and at that time the score was 94 for 4 - We needed 67, when Kohli was joined by Dhoni.
India needed 59 runs in 30 balls. Many of our neighbours switched off the TV and went to bed - losing hope of any chance of India winning. The impossible happened - Kohli made it possible with aggressive batting of exceptional quality - to win the match.
No praise is small for the remarkable way in which Virat Kohli - Dhoni combine batted last night. True heroes !
