Devotees have been flocking this Hindu temple for years to worship a Muslim Robin Hood

The shrine is attached to the Edappara Maladevar Nada temple at Karamvely

With ‘intolerance’ being the buzzword in the current political discourse of the country, the story of a Hindu temple in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, where a Muslim brigand is worshipped, offers food for thought.

A shrine, which was installed over a century ago inside the Hindu temple in honour of Kayamkulam Kochunni – the legendary 19th century Muslim outlaw - still attracts devotees in large numbers.

So what can we infer about the practice of worship from this? Or about God? Is not food for thought?

A better example is available at Sabari Mala, where Sannidhi of Vavar is visited by almost all hindu piligrims. Kwajah Moinuddin Chishtis Ajmer shrine and the masjid of Nizamuddin Aulia at Hzt. Nisamuddin in Delhi also attracts a lot of hindu believers. All of us very well know, where the so called "intolerance" really practised. It is in the mindset of a handful of politicians who promotes it simply for political gains and stay floated in the Indian political areana.

The best example is Nagore Durga.
Many Hindus go to the shrine and worship.
During "Santhana Koodu" festival, the procession starts from Nagapattinam after performing formalities by a heredity of Chettiar - family.
