Delhi to make helmets must for women - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Women travelling on two-wheelers in the city may soon have to wear a helmet by law. The transport department has proposed to amend the law that exempts them from wearing protective gear after a direction from Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung last month.

The exemption had been granted on religious grounds after protests by Sikh women. Later, in the wake of increasing road fatalities involving women, the Sheila Dikshit government.

It is a good decision taken in the interest of the Delhi women. What could be their reaction? How are they going to co-operate? Let us wait and see how effectively this rule is implemented by the local police.

OMG! You mean to say all these while it was not mandatory.???Here its mandatory for both males and females including kids and also for the rider and the pillion rider/riders too.
Even women with head scarf and full Hijab wear helmet out here.

Here, off late, human life has no value at all. Increasing accidents in road traffic is nobody’s concern. Some of the Governments simply pass Orders and the Departments concerned are not very effective in implementation despite Court Orders for various reasons.

Though there are Court orders, barring human entering into manholes and clearing the blocks, it happens, and there is no check. In how many cases, mechanical devices are being used is not known.

Recently, cases of children falling into bore wells and stuck inside are getting reported. The people who dug these bore wells, why leaving them open, it is not known.

Government blaming each other … compensation issued.. then forget the whole unfortunate accidents. Life moves on.......
