Dear Sir,

My brother got married on 28-OCT-2012, usually the new manglayam thread will be changed after 3 months to a turmeric rope. But as he got married on Aypasi month the third is Margazhi.

Is it ok to change the thread on Margazhi month. if it not can we change the thread on this Aypasi month on 15-OCT-2012. Because some of our elders says its the period of kanda sashti viratham (sura samharam 14th -18th OCT ) so we should not do good things on these period of time.

Can you please help us ASAP.

Thanks

In our households we do not follow such rules. The women change the thread as and when necessary; usually, they do it in the morning after taking bath and avoid Rahu Kaalam. That is all. This has been the practice for 3 generations AFAIK and no special harm has befallen us.

hi
we have thousands of pazhakkams every household....just follow as per elders did in the home....or just follow water as it follows....

nobody can answer certain queries....if we can do follow as per elders in the home....or ask some local vadhyar...
