Data says four out of five callers to '104' mental health helpline in Maharashtra are men
A maximum of up to 33% calls were related to failure to deal with depression, anxiety, stress and sleep disturbances. 16% dealt with incapability to deal with issues related to children and adolescents. A 15% related to complaints of substance abuse and addiction; 9.4% had sexual and reproductive health related queries. Two percent of all callers were contemplating suicide, the data states.
Four out of five persons calling the statemental health help line are men, saysdata with District Mental Health Programme in Maharashtra. The toll-free number 104 operates across the state from 9 am to 9 pm throughout the week. Launched on February 26, 104 has received over 5,000 calls in the last six months.
