In a shocking incident, a 90-year-old Dalit man was attacked with an axe and set on fire for attempting to enter a temple. The incident occured in Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh. The man died of his injuries.
According to Hindustan Times the victim, identified as Chimma, had gone to the Maidani Baba temple with his wife, son Durjan and brother on Wednesday evening. As they approached the temple, they were stopped by a man named Sanjay Tiwari.
Tiwari attacked Chimma with an axe and set him on fire when the latter refuse to stop entering the temple. Earlier, the accused had warned several other Dalits against entering the temple but to no avail, reports HT.
The incident took place in the presence of several other devotees in Bilgaon, a village on the boundary between Hamirpur and Jalaun districts located 140km from Kanpur.
However, Tiwari was soon nabbed by the people and handed over to the police. Tiwari was allegedly drunk when he attacked Chimma.
Two aides of Tiwari have been named in the police FIR and are on the run, reports HT.

The hindu terrorists are a fact and they are growing bolder! That Dalits do not form part of the mainstream hinduism of brahmins or Thakurs is also borne out by this incident.

Will Modi with his obeisance to the RSS hq and submitting his report card, be able to prevent such heinous acts? Doubtful.

A drunken Tiwari could enter the temple but not an innocent Dalit.

We can't claim that we are in a civilised country.

The incident could have been avoided...If we do not allow the Dalits to worship then we are pushing them to the wall...This has happened in UP where the yadav clan is ruling....This has nothing to do with Modi

The hindutva brigade is steadily transforming into a jihadi type. In the present set up only Modi, if any one can, can control these fanatic elements. These hindutva people will kill one muslim on hearsay of beef eating/storing, another dalit for trying to worship or enter into a temple, etc., but when the opposite side turns their full fury and kills whole villages, these people usually have no guts to hit back with equal force and will start crying. Why therefore, provoke a wild animal just to show your courage in doing so and getting killed as a result?
