Even educated cannot be persuaded to be vaccinated.
Most middle class fear going to hospitals for treatment for corona
and preferring home isolation.

People in Tamilnadu had overcome their initial hesitancy and were ready to take the shots. The case of Tamil actor Vivek suffering a fatal cardiac arrest just a day after taking covaxin created a setback. There are reports (on the net) that in rare cases covid vaccine causes blood clots. Naturally, this fear spread.

Medical experts say (on TV) that even if covid vaccine is not 100% effective, it can greatly reduce the severity of the attack in the sense that a vaccinated person may not suffer from acute shortage of oxygen levels etc. or other medical problems needing hospitalisation. To me this is the single most compelling reason to take the vaccination.

As to people fearing to go to hospitals for treatment, I think it is valid. I know of a family where the lady of the house developed a heart problem and needed a stent and had to be hospitalised. Her husband and son who had to spend a lot of time in the hospital contracted corona. In the case of the husband it became quite serious and he had to be hospitialised. Fortunately they are all fine now. This happened just 2 months back.

If it is for Brahmins serving as priests in temples, then it is understandable because of possible greater exposure to public in the event of temples being reopened. But, then this preference must be extended to people of other communities (Lingayat ...) who are possibly serving as Archakas - otherwise it is very wrong to prioritise on the basis of caste rather than susceptibility (owing to age/ nature of work) or importance to society (where a person's service is needed) or any other valid reason.

It is for all brahmins not necessarily archakars
Certain localities like malleswaram has a sizeable number of mandayam and hebbar .iyengars who can influence assembly results.
There are vaishnavite temples to cater to their religeous needs.These constitute a vote bank .
They can hardly be ignored in any election.

The numbers in bihar and telengana are staggering.
Corona cases are coming down. But by no means it is over.
Every family has deaths to report
Many are having a splash buy gold at low prices and having liquor parties home.
So stock prices of gold and liquor are up.
Upper middle class and high networth persons are getting out of the country in droves.
Poor shape of health care and frequent changes iin vaccine schedules with shortages in many pockets is causing hardship.
Then fake medicines and jabs are causing anxiety.
Mosr are returning to their jobs from villlages.
Not many can sustain on their savings for long.
Familes are left mourning l oss of close
relatives
It will take a lot of fime for wounds to heal.
I sincerely hope there is no third wave.
Political scene is depressing.
Parties jostling for power in next round of assembly elections is keeping every politician busy.
Many are jumping parties. Caste and religion seem to be a major factor for party of choice.
Is there hope for the common man for a better future in all this.
Where are the jobs for the unemployed ?
Are women more safe in public spaces.?
Children stuck home are becoming mentally sick
Will they ever be able to go to schools and colleges as before.?
All want normality which seems to elude us

The situation is not certainly going to change overnight.

By the way, how many of us know exactly how long immunity lasts?

It is said, that human behavior is complex. Right from day one, we are asked to strictly follow covid-19 protocols. We are stressed the need for wearing mask, maintain social distance and wash our hands and sanitize the entire area we live, etc

We have seriously changed to the situation which demanded us to get into new practices to avoid spreading of covid-19

We lived this life with a sense of fear all the time even to talk to our loved ones, neighbors, friends, relatives, vendors, strangers, etc

Some of us were habituated all these days working from home. Think of those days, when we were not able to enjoy our hot breakfast prepared with dedication served with love. With our mind full of hectic traffic and bottle necks of signals, we used to rush to Office cursing our fate. Working from home is a blessing indeed for more.

All these days, we’re just doing things in our own way with leisure, we plan our day's schedule in such a way that we spend the day with enough entertainment, well informed and good health, BUT NO RUSHING.

Of course, everyone seeks a relief and are in favour of 'lock-down' free life.

Let us hope for the good.

None have any protection mask etc.
It seems all parents have decided that corona is over.
We have lost nearly two precious years.
For school going children no 12 th exam nor farewell parties.
Some complex way of counting grades.
Whether these will get admission to the courses these want on the basis of these results.
Then there is cbse icse state board how they will be normalised.
Delhi colleges have no normalisation and all are equal.
So many aspiring students will be deprived of getting course of their choice.
Add to it the reservation policy hurting forwards.
Where is merit in all this.
Mediocrity will truimph over merit.
Well off should be thinking of foeign options to get out of this unequal race for admission

it will not cease easily.....we have to pay heavy price.....in vote bank democracy....more reservation

will come....like in TN....vanniyar reservation....nobody can change this reservation so easily...

There is not much difference between urban or rural poor
Une.mployment and loss of jobs has affected some middle class families in addion to the poor.
Rich poor divide has only inc reased
Those who borrowed from banks for flats or consumer durables are unable to service due to job loss
Some housewives are turning domestic helps cooking for a living.
Frustratioms are causing domestic discord
Some marriages are breaking up due to domestic violence.
To be happy in this atmosphere calls for a different mindset .

Those who are smart enough will think twice, before venturing out of India during this pandemic period

Most of the countries have already banned tourists

Few countries have even suspended their flight operations

Most of the countries insist negative RT-PCR test report on arrival

And direct tourists to quarantine for extended period at their own expenses

Some insist for Health Insurance coverage

One has to necessarily undergo self-isolation and during which time they will have to avoid contact with friends, family, colleagues, etc.

Can anyone enjoy such trips?

PM Modi boasts of world’s largest free Covid-19 vaccine drive as Centre revises policy

With the revision in Covid vaccination policy, World’s Largest Free Vaccination Campaign seems to have been launched.

Under this campaign, vaccine will be made available at free of cost in government-run vaccination centres. The centre started providing vaccines free of charge to all above 18 from today

And it is reported that the beneficiary in this scheme will be poor, middle class and the youth.​

Reports say that more than 75 lakh vaccine doses were administered across the country in the last 24 hours, the highest single day coverage till now.

Before the centre's takeover, it was the responsibility of state governments to procure and administer 50 per cent of the vaccines for citizens between the ages of 18 to 45. The centre supplied free vaccines to only people aged 45 and above earlier.

readily.
Even there one has to go to rural area to get vaccinated easily.
In rural areas many do not welcome jabs.
Until recently private hospitals were charging merrily for vaccination. Now the rate for them is controlled
In one mumbai apartment there was a scam and fake vaccines got injected.
Delhi has a vaccine shortage .Only 15 lakhs injections released for 2 crore plus need.
Most govt programs are well meaning.Only it gets messed up in implementation.

Covid deaths got under reported. In some states the numbers were 3 to 5 times more than official figures.
No one knows how many died.
We have total death counts due to registration of death which is far higher than official covid death figures.
Almost every family lost some members or know some close friends who succumbed to corona

First of all one should understand that Health is a state subject

GoI has enabled States to try procuring vaccines on their own, on their explicit requests

But States, who had not even achieved good coverage of healthcare workers and frontline workers in 3 months wanted to open up the process of vaccination and wanted more decentralisation

Vaccines are in short supply in the world and it is not easy to procure them at short notice.

One need to understand that buying vaccines internationally is not similar to buying ‘off the shelf’ items.

It is reported that Vaccines are in limited supply globally, and companies have their own priorities, game-plans and compulsions in allocating finite stocks. They also give preference to countries of their origin just as our own vaccine makers have done unhesitatingly for us,” the press release stated.

It is reported that From January to April, the government ran the entire vaccination programme and it was well-administered, compared to the situation in May.

Health is a state subject and the liberalised vaccine policy was a result of the incessant requests being made by the states to give states more power. The fact that global tenders have not given any results only reaffirms what we have been telling the states from day one: that vaccines are in short supply in the world and it is not easy to procure them at short notice.

To varying degrees, all countries are under counting Covid-19 deaths because, for instance, deaths due to the disease could be attributed to other causes in cases where Covid-19 was not diagnosed.

And there is no need for the State government to show a reduced death rate. Authorities concerned seems to have visited districts till now and have told all the district collectors not to hide any deaths. They do conduct regular weekly review meeting and reconcile the figures. There might only be the difference in the cause of death.

Two classic examples are SPB Balasubramaniam and Congress MP Vasanth Kumar. Both were admitted due to Covid-19 and they recovered from the virus but later died due to comorbidity.
