primary health care in rural areas is still not good enough.
there is a need for health workers midwives etc to take care of deliveries in . larger numbers
doctors are not ready for rural postings
medical care is still elitist and expensive for the poor
simple family doctors have simply disappeared
for a simple throat infection , the local doctor charged me 300 rs besides a blood ,and urine cycle for several hundred rupees.at the end of it I decided not to go back to the doctor with the result and swore not to go near doctors. IMHO such tests are not required for such infections. also I took one anti biotic tablet and threw away the rest.became ok in five days
I only pray I do not fall sick when I am out of station
