This shows that Pakistani establishment, despite all the bonhomie and flattery is not serious in containing the infiltration of terrorists into India..Can we get beguiled by such deception! Hope GOI does not fall into a trap similar to Kargil fiasco!

[h=1]Pathankot airbase attack ENDS; 4 terrorists killed[/h]

January 02, 2016 09:13

The latest reports coming in have stated that the terror attack at the Pathankot air base has ended with security forces neutralising 4 terrorists. Officials added that the authorities were still sanitising the area and combing operations were on to determine if there are more terrorists in the area.

The attack comes days after PM Narendra Modi's unscheduled visit to Pakistan. It is the second big terror attack in Punjab within less than a year as last year three militants stormed a police station in Diana Nagar before being eliminated after 12 hour gun battle.

When you have a cobra as a pet snake, can you relax with it out of container? NO.
Similarly you have to be ever vigilant with neighbor like Pakistan.

Was the terror attack in Punjab's Pathankot carried out at the behest of Pakistan's intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)? If sources are to be believed, then yes. Sources have told Zee Media that ISI held a meeting with several terror groups in December last year to plan terror attacks in India.
Among the terrorist groups which attended the meeting included Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Hizbul Mujahideen and Punjab-based Babbar Khalsa.

According to sources, the terror groups were told at the 'coordination meeting' to intensify attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
The terror groups were also paid money to carry out the attacks.

India has 'credible information' on Pathankot 'attackers: Rijiju: Terming the Pathankot terror attack as "unfortunate", Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said India has credible information that the attackers were sponsored by some elements from across the border.

"We have credible information about this (attackers) being sponsored by some elements from across the border, but our security forces have done a commendable job by eliminating all the terrorists involved in this particular operation," he said.

Various central agencies were coordinating with the Punjab Police, he said when asked about an update on the ongoing combing operation.

1. Keep the powder dry and keep engaging them in talks and business. Never let down the guard.

2. Every time a terror attack happens within the border states of India by Pak trained terrorists, indian troops should fire a few rockets into Pak. territory to cause some damage to lives and property.

3. If that is treated as grave provocation and there is going to be a border skirmish, be prepared to give a bloody nose to the formations that engage our troops.

4. There will be flag meetings, border meetings and even commanders' meeting. Slowly this will fade away from memory without achieving anything as usual. But the fact that India responded with violence will stay. Sweet reasonableness in all these meetings is just a cover.

5. Keep careful count of lives lost (both military and civilian) in india due to the terror from across the border. Then offer our friends across the border and on Pak's western border adequate incentives to keep causing equal number of deaths on Pak soil.

6. Every time Pak PM is met in any foreign soil in an international conference, be overflowing with comeraderies and friendship for the world to see. After reaching back home ask our troops to send a couple of rockets into their territory as a gift for all the handshakes and comeraderie.

If I were in Modi's place I would do this and be prepared for a war if it comes.

Well, we should understand one thing here. The politically elected government in Pakistan is only a ceremonial functionery. The real power lies with Army and it is they who decide what to do or what not to do in Pakistan and they are further answerable or under influence of the Seperative Jihadi groups. That way the sudden unscheduled visit by Modi has caused them quite an embarassment. Retaliation in any manner was more than expected and may be the Indian authorities were more or less prepared for that. In case the relationship is normalised between the two countries, it would be the Terrorist groups who have no where else to go would be the most affacted since places like Afghanistan has already gone out of their control.

[h=1]Pathankot attack: Security forces kill all 6 terrorists at airbase.[/h]All six terrorists, who launched an attack on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot on Saturday morning, have been killed. Four terrorists had already been neutralised on Sunday evening, following which the security forces launched a massive combing operation to eliminate two more terrorists hiding in the air base. After the operation ended on the third day, NSG, IAF and Army officers said there were no collateral damage to the strategic Air Force assets.
Earlier in the day, Inspector General NSG Maj General Dushant Singh had said, "Till now, we have eliminated four terrorists and operation to eliminate two more terrorists, possibly is in the final stage of conduct."
Singh, who was flanked by Air officer commanding, Air Commodore J S Damoon and Brigadier Anupinder Singh, had said "the entire operation will continue till all the personnel, assets, structure werere physically combed."
The terrorists were holed up in a double-storeyed building which was the living accommodation of Air Force personnel.
The area of the Air Force base was "very large" where strategic assets of IAF are kept, besides families of IAF personnel and schools are located in it. "It is a mini city," the IAF officer said.

Now only you can say that episode is behind us.
The Home minister Mr. Rajnith Sigh and the original post was premature..

Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) based militant conglomerate United Jihad Council (UJC) on Monday claimed the responsibility of the ongoing Pathankot Airbase attack, which left seven security personnel and five militants dead.
A Srinagar-based wire service, CNS, claimed that UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain told it that Kashmiri militants associated with the ‘Highway Squad’ attacked the airbase.
“Indian government and its media have been suffering from Pakistan phobia. By accusing Pakistan for every attack, India neither succeeded in past to malign the Kashmir freedom struggle nor will it get anything in future through malicious propaganda," the spokesperson said.
The UJC spokesperson clarified that militants in Kashmir have been fighting Indian Forces from last 27 years and during this period India adopted all available means to crush the Kashmir “movement”.
“The attack on Pathankot Air Base from Kashmiri Mujhadeen carries a message to India that no security establishment and garrison are out of reach from militants,” said the spokesman.
“Instead of accusing Pakistan, India should read the writing on the wall and without wasting any time should provide an opportunity to the people of Kashmir to decided their future,” the statement read.
UJC is a conglomerate of around 13 militant outfits, including the Lashkar-e-Toiba.

If one arm of Pakistan is engaging in congeniality and cordiality with the Indian Government while the other arm (ISI) is sending terrorists shows the double game that Pakistan is playing...They have to be exposed

How about 26/11 Mumbai attacks or the earlier 1993 blasts...I think it has nothing to do with BJP or Congress...They have no strategy in place...Once India decides to break Pakistan then no body can save the country from eternal doom! The day is not far off! Indira Gandhi did it earlier !!

Right step by our Defence Minister! It will alleviate the distress faced by the families of the martyred defence personnel!

What I see is that the Pathankot airbase had very lax security arrangements. You cannot fall into such a laissez faire attitude as long as Pakistan exists and all the comical stunts by Modi, like his surprise visit, etc., will be seen only as the "time-pass" of a next-door politician who likes more to do foreign jaunts at the country's expense rather than tackling his own people's problems in a statesmanly way.

In this case, the causes for the lax security over Pathankot air base must be enquired and the authorities found responsible should be given the death penalty. Only such extreme steps will awaken our slumbering defence forces.

[h=1]Deploying NSG instead of Army was a mistake: experts[/h]

[h=2]Thousands of troops were stationed near the airbase, but precious time was lost by sending National Security Guard commandos all the way from Delhi[/h]
Army and security circles are bewildered and angry over the way the government kept the Army from the Pathankot terror hunt, especially in the early phase, when Army troops were available in thousands close by. Instead of pressing Army units into immediate action, precious time was lost in sending a few dozen NSG commandos from New Delhi.
“None of us can believe what they did. We have two infantry divisions and two armoured brigades in the vicinity. We have at least three corps headquarters in a couple of hours’ drive, and the Northern Army headquarters too. All of those troops are seasoned in carrying out counter-terror operations,” said a serving Brigadier posted close to Pathankot. “Instead, they wasted time to send a few dozen NSG commandos to the base?”

Multiple lapses

The terrorist attack on the Pathankot airbase was a result of a series of systemic security failures at various levels.

I think I should pretend as some of the "original Thinkers" in this site postulate, but I am more honest than these animals. I post my sources.

You protect your formation with a hundred other formations. You cover yourself with immense amount of forewarning gadgets and their intelligence warnings. You shut yourself inside a fortress surrounded by a moat guarded by armoured vehicles with mounted guns.

In spite of all these, I, as a terrorist will find ways to sneak in and hurt/kill you.

The reason is simple.

1) I choose the day and the time to strike.

2) I choose the place where I will strike.

3) I choose the weapons I will use in the operation.

4) I choose the methods I will use to hurt you before I get killed.

5) The initiative rests completely with me -- because I am a terrorist or a guerilla.

6) I know I will not survive the encounter. But I do not mind that.

So, no logic in calling the army a slumbering force. The country can not be in a state of war 24x7x52x millennium.

A matured citizen understands the situation better.

Copy pasting comedians can never get the complexities within the the range of their comprehension (sangomji this line is not about you). LOL

[h=2]The truth in India-Pakistan relations is not about golden tomorrows but the ingested bitterness about bloody and betrayed yesterdays, and how we can craft a future of a well-functioning, normal relationship despite this.[/h]
The terrorist blitz-from-the-ground on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot has brought home to us the fact that there is no brave new world in cross-border relations with Pakistan. Time after time, the same dissonances come back to haunt us. Overtures made, initiatives taken, emotional handshakes seem to vaporise the instant the atavism and distrust-laden DNA in these relations reasserts itself in the wake of such premeditated violence and terrorism.
Attacks like Pathankot come with a heavy price — the price paid in lives lost of our defence personnel and commandos, and the jolt that is felt when it is realised that the old days when terrorism bled our people have not gone away, more so when it was just a few days ago that our Prime Minister, like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, decided to go to Pakistan, even if briefly, to extend an olive branch.
The emphasis in our relations with Pakistan must be on keeping the channels of dialogue open together with vigilant intelligence and an astute assessment of Pakistan’s moves. When the two sides meet next, Pathankot will obviously dominate the agenda. It will not be enough for Pakistan to just play the usual signature tune that its state machinery was not involved. India has a legitimate right to question Pakistan’s credibility on this issue. It is a truth universally acknowledged that terror groups targeting India continue to operate with impunity from Pakistani soil. Why is it that Pakistani intelligence and security do not silence them? It is not enough to plead that Pakistan is the worst victim of terrorism today. Much as the world and India felt grief for the lives of innocent children lost in Peshawar, the suffering of innocent Indians at the hands of terrorists with cross-border affiliation on so many past occasions cannot be ignored. This is a peace process, therefore, that has many miles to go.

I think Nurupama Rao is more qualified than the jokers here.
Yes I am posting is a "cut and Paste" because I get inspired by reading the experts as opposed to showing my ignorance (or so called "smartness" of not-so-smart).

The members here too read columnists' views in news papers and magazines. But one difference from the CP comedians is that they also make use of their brains fully-not just the medulla oblongata part of it alone to hit on just two keys on the key board.

Nirupama need not be the knowledge queen for all members here. She will be assessed for the ideas she present and that is all. LOL.

So next time when Nirupama is quoted it is better to activate the other parts of the God given brain like the cerebrum and cerebullum and add something original and valuable to the quoted contents. Not just malice.

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday made it clear that foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan will go ahead only if Islamabad acts on the 'actionable intelligence' provided by Delhi on the Pathankot terror attack.

"The ball is in Pakistan's court," MEA spokesman Vikas Swarup said when asked about the fate of the upcoming foreign secretary-level talks.

"Pathankot terror attack has put renewed focus on cross-border terrorism," he said.

"The government's policy towards Pakistan is clear and consistent. India wants friendly relations with all its neighbours including Pakistan," he said.

"But India will not tolerate cross-border terror," he said.

"It will be premature for me to say anything more at this point," Vikas Swarup said when pressed further for India's stand on talks.

Only the greenest among us believed Pakistan might tone down its terror ways after Prime Minister Narendra Modi dropped in to hug and hold hands with Nawaz Sharif. For many of us who have lived through Kargil and Mumbai, Kabul and Parliament, the question was never an “if” but a “when” the next terror attack would happen. Pakistan did not disappoint – Jaish-eMohammed, sometimes in the ISI doghouse, was pulled out for the Pathankot operation, almost certainly planned before the pappi jhappi. But more than 100 hours and many dead bodies later, we have learnt several things, some repeat lessons, some new ones.
In 2008, after the ISI-directed LeT attacks in Mumbai shook India, Pakistan’s first, second and third responses remained complete denial that the attacks had originated there, planned and executed from their soil. It was after Pakistan media discovered Ajmal Kasab’s family in Faridkot, US technical intelligence nailed them through their phone calls and David Headley landed in the US net that Pakistan arrested Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi.
This time Pakistan has not questioned even once that the attack came from them, instead has offered to investigate Indian “leads”. You don’t want to hold your breath here but mark Washington’s second statement on Monday where they laid down the line: “It’s certainly our expectation that they’ll treat this exactly the way they’ve said they would.” That’s progress.
Second, we knew terrorists were prowling in the tall grasses near the Pathankot airbase. Unlike 2008, we seemed better prepared, and had moved out important equipment etc. But for some strange reason, the suicide squad still came into the base, killed security personnel, left booby-trapped dead jihadis and kept our guys engaged for the better part of 72 hours. And that is where we have come unstuck. Once again we exposed glaring gaps in our security preparation that would make amateurs blush.

JeM chief is the main culprit..But his handlers are the Army & ISI gang!! Pakistani establishment is knee deep in this!!

[h=1]JeM chief Masood Azhar identified as 'handler' of Pathankot terror attack[/h]

January 07, 2016 20:55

Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his brother Abdul Rauf Asghar, mastermind of IC-814 hijack case, are among four persons identified by Indian intelligence agencies as 'handlers' behind the recent Pathankot attack.

Besides the agencies here claimed to have found evidence that "conspiracy" was hatched near Lahore, top government sources said today.

The details of these four persons have been shared with Pakistan "through proper channel" and India has pressed for stern action against them as a condition for any future talks with Pakistan, the sources claimed.

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval is understood to have spoken to his Pakistani counterpart ex-General Nasser Khan Janjua and shared all relevant evidences including voice data, they said.

The evidence alleging JeM's involvement in the recent attack may put a question mark on scheduled Foreign Secretary-level talk between India and Pakistan in Islamabad on January 15.

Those identified by Indian agencies are Azhar, Rauf, Ashfaq and Kashim, the sources said. Rauf was mastermind of hijack of Air India plane in Kathmandu, in 1999 which was later taken to Kandahar in Afghanistan. The eight-day hijack crisis had ended after release of three hardcore militants including Azhar in exchange for the freedom of passengers and crew members who were held hostage.

Asked as to what action India wants Pakistan to take against these four, the sources said they have to be arrested and handed to New Delhi so that they could be questioned in the ongoing investigation.

Agree with Swami Ramdevji! We need to be prepared to take Pakistan head on despite outward display of friendship & bonhomie!

[h=1]India should be in 'attack' mode with Pak: Ramdev[/h]January 09, 2016

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday called for 'teaching a tough lesson' to Pakistan following the Pathankot terror attack, saying that India should be in 'attack' mode when dealing with Islamabad.

"India is a strong and powerful country. It should be in 'attack' mode in context to Pakistan, that's when we will be able to protect ourselves," Ramdev told ANI.

"Pakistan should be taught a tough lesson that it does not repeat such incidents," he added.
