Astrology is a very vast subject and no decision could be taken considering a single fact. Birth star is only one of the many factors (not the one and only factor mind it!)affecting one's destiny is analyzed as per astrological calculations. Again good and bad is to be understood is also to be understood in a broader prospective. It is based upon for which aspect you are looking at it. For eg. J Jayalalita's Birth star is Magha, now how can one decide it is good or bad for her? If you analyze the time of India's independence, 00.00 hrs 15th August, 1947 again the star would turn out be Magha, but that never mean that India is having only bad effects. Since you have mentioned that you have started reading astrological books, please go through them and learn more you will understand on your own how to analyze things. I can suggest you many good astrological magazines and books in case you are really interested.

There are some beliefs that make some stars not so good.

A girl born in AshlEsha (Ayilyam) will bring death to her mother in law (Ayilyam mAmiyArukku AgAdhu)

A girl born in Moolam will bring death to her father in law ( peN moolam nirmoolam)

A girl born in JyEshta (Kettai) will bring bad luck to elder brother of her husband (kettai jEshtanukku AgAdhu)

A boy born in Chithirai will bring bad luck to his father.

But many m-s in law live happily with their d-s in law born in Ayilyam.

Many f-s in law have a long life after getting a d i l born in Moolam.

All the elder brothers in law are safe and sound after the younger brother marries a girl born in JyEshta.

No star is a bad star and it is the horoscope that makes some lives miserable. The pity is that many astrologers

are unable to give the correct prediction.

BTW, Magam is supposed to be one of the best stars for girls. :thumb:

Some 'magaththu mangai's are very famous too! :)
