bhuvaneswari ashtakam (translation sung in tamil)

Shiva is Energy. Shakti is Momentum. Shiva-Shakti is the Energy-Momentum (EM) couple. Shakti, the Momentum is what is seen outward. Shiva, the property of energy is implicit and perceived explicitly through shakti, the momentum.

Shiva is consciousness. Shakti is the signaling. Shiva-Shakti is the Consciousness-Signaling (CS) couple. Shakti, the Signaling is what is seen outward. Shiva, the consciousness is implicit and perceived explicitly through shakti, the signaling.

Shiva and Shakti are the ardha-nArIsvara couple that cannot be separated. Shiva is the puruSa (the internal hidden observer) and Shakti is prakRti (externally perceived evolute).

Shakti is perceived in ten fundamental ways in matter and biological domains. They are the dasa mahA vidyAs. Bhuvaneswari is one of the dasa mahA vidhyAs, a way by which shakti gets known.

In biological domain, she is the goddess associated with ‘manas’. When invoked, she removes fears, enmity, evil deeds, detach our mind, make us anew and cause fame. Bhuvaneswari ashtakam invokes bhuvaneswari, goddess of manas, to eliminate fears, enmity, evil deeds, detach our mind, make us anew and bring fame

In biological domain, the ten ways by which biological beings are perceived/ learnt are
1. Signaling (Lalita)
2. Desire to adapt/reproduce (kAmA, pracanda)
3. Uses energy / Metabolism (tArA)
4. Physical organization (kamalatmika)
5. Ageing/decay/death (kAli)
6. Growth and reduction (bagalamukhi)
7. Self-identity /ahamkAra (dhumavati)
8. Manas (operates as one organ) (bhuvaneswari)
9. 'Will' /Response (tripura bhairavi)
10. Memory across generations (mAtangi)
