Then we should rename our site to Tamizhan.com and not Tamilbrahmins.com. Never think that intercaste marriage alone would bring an end to caste based attrocities. In democracy everything is based on numbers and clearly we do not have that in our hand. What is more important at this stage is literacy which our society really lacks. The stupidest way by which the Goverment differentiates a literate and an illiterate is based on the ability to pen down ones signature. So can you imagine the kind of society we are in. Democracy in the hands of illiterate is like " Korangu kayile koduthu poo malai". Everytime politicians highlight one or two exceptional outliers such as Kamaraj/MGR/Kakkan who ruled us were not educated but still they rendered a marvellous public service. Sadly our people do not realise the age we are living and the age those leaders were.
Rational thinking by everyone in the society alone can change the way we live and this would take atleast another few generations. So till then enjoy the show dude!

Eliminating caste is all good thought and deed. It is not going to happen soon in Tamilnadu. Caste prejudice is not going to disappear even in Chennai. I would suggest Mr.Goundamani to visit other Tamil forums. The amount of filth that is written against Tamil brahmins is sooooooo disgusting.

Many of the postings in those forum express these types of views:

1. Dont consider Tamil brahmins as Tamilians.

2. They want Tamil brahmins to be thrown out of Tamilnadu.

3. They want all the brahmins to be thrown to Nordic region where the aryans were supposed to have migrated from.

Brahmins like Goundmani are quite oblivious of the amount of hatredness against brahmins EVEN AMONG THE CURRENT GENERATION OF TAMILS . This hatredness has been cultivated by the dravidian leadership. There is no sight of an end to this hate.

பல வந்தேறிக் குழுக்கள் காலம் காலமாக பூர்வக் குடிமக்களை அடிமையாக வைத்திருந்ததை எல்லோரும் மறந்துவிட்டு இன்னும் வந்தேறிகளுக்கு வணக்கம் செலுத்த வேண்டுமாம். வந்தேறிகள் என்று சொல்வதை மக்கள் எல்லோரும் வேண்டுமென்றா சொல்லுகிறார்கள்?

I put up a counter arguement to the colour of blood which is one of the common arguement used against parents when a girl or a boy falls in love and marry against the parents wishes. That is all. Any interpretation beyond is based on one's frame of reference.
Please remember, when the statue of one of the false leaders was applied sandal paste in the recent past, one of the politicians remarked whomsoever has done that is a pig. So, when people in power call their own people as pigs, what more can I say?
We are the same bunch, that remained silent, when our most reverred guru was imprisoned and illtreated.
I think we cause most of our own problems.
I dont know which part of tamilnadu you are from, but the comments made on (when I was in school)the brahmin girls and ladies are still fresh in my memories.
I dont have time now. But will return soon, with lot of new threads.

hi all,
i have not read all the post but only few of them. here is my reply to that inter caste marrige (ICM). i feel strange why goundamani continuously insisting on ICM.
ICM will not and should not be the solution for oppression on people. If ICM has been made as the solution then can u guarantee me that killings of fellow human beings, animals, oppression of people won’t happen? I doubt u have not correctly understood the Brahmins way of life. Every caste and every religion has its unique, beautiful way of life. Every caste is a living science. Better u study all religions correctly. Yes i accept that some of the other caste people are oppressed but this was not introduced voluntarily by Brahmins but to my knowledge I can say that this (caste oppression) was done in the middle or during the start of british era. Lets not talk detail about past.
This oppression problem was not because of caste system but because there is no HUMANITY in man kind. Each and every one becomes selfish and hence the problem. If every human being starts respecting and loving fellow human beings, animals, nature etc. then these problems wont occur. And this does not require ICM.
Does some of our great Brahmin souls propagated ICM, no instead they propagated humanity. Even today many persons are having good respect and understanding with other caste people and they also enjoy the same. They visit each others places and enjoy life and continue to live in their own caste way.
In today’s situation everyone tries to exploit Brahmins, tries to oppress us so in this situation u should not go for ICM but should go for humanity. Every one should go for humanity way and should see the difference. It will solve all the problem not only caste problem in India but all the problem surrounding the world.
I have a lot to say but time stops me. Will come back will full message.
I have a lot of friends and till now does not have any Brahmin friend. But all of my friends belong to other caste particularly SC, MBC. I visit them and they also visit us. Their family members are very kind to us and happy to be with us and their whole approach towards Brahmins have changed. And I still live as a Brahmin especially with vegetarian way of life and they never tried to make me non veg. so I say if you want to solve the problem have a humanity approach and don’t go for inter caste marriage.

I was just trying to put an arguement used in the color of the blood analogy, and even after I clarified my position, you would not stop. So Ihave no option but to continue.
But I think marrying against parent's wishes is a bad thing to do in any century. Just because we are in the 21st century does not mean, we have to marry against parent's wishes.
Compassion is one thing, Protecting our way of living is another thing. In the name of compassion we should not get repeatedly stabbed in the back.

The wise strategists have said "Fight dharma with dharma, and fight adharma with adharma" and lord Krishna has demonstrated this mahabharat a lot of times.

who is this 'one' and who is this 'buffalo?'

Would you please clarify?

And also please find your quote on 'interspecies marriage'.

All standard dialogues of the intercaste marriages " my blood colour is same as his colour" "my sh** stinks the same as his sh**".. might sound good in a movie. Even buffalos blood colour is red.. can one marry a buffalo? That much better. We have gone one step further and created "interspecies" marriage.

But I think marrying against parent's wishes is a bad thing to do in any century. Just because we are in the 21st century does not mean, we have to marry against parent's wishes.

Then they should respect our wishes.If they honor their children's choice,then children will honor parents' words.

I think you are taking things out of context. Kudumi was using a metaphor; he wasn't calling some other caste person as 'buffalo'. Please go back and re-read his whole post.

Regarding marrying against parents' wishes is an age-old thing. It goes on all the time. We cannot say one is right and the other is wrong. People act based on their emotions.

I dont want to continue the buffalo arguement anymore, as silverfox has understood what I meant and clarified it, and I myself clarified. "You can wake a person who sleeps. You cannot wake a person who is awake, but wants to be asleep".

Who came into the world first? Parents right?
Who lived longer? Parents right?
Who gave education ? Parents right?
WHo stand by us in tough times? Parents right?
So they know better what is right for their children. When the child freeloaded for all his funding, upto getting a job, there is nothing wrong in keeping the parents happy by marrying a person of their choice. One ( meaning anybody) can be rest assured that they will not end up with a buffalo ( meaning, any, including, incompatible thing).
Will they ever do anything that goes against the wishes of the child?
Marriage is called "aayiram kaalathu payir".. it lasts for generations togather.. such an important thing cannot be decided based only on things( meaning not only a physical thing, but intangilbe also) like 1. Employability, 2. Salary 3. Skin deep beauty 4. Ability to get H1, or HSMP, or PR and GC.
I know a few love marriages that were successful, but majority of them are a failure.
When the traditional marriage is lost, the tradition is lost.

My point is we should come out of this ostrich mentality, and bury our heads when there is problem all around us, directed towards us.

Here i want to tell that, there are recovert of dalits form christianity to hindus.This was done by some dalit people(note this reconvert done in state of M.P). Why they reconvert form christianity because any brahmin converts abuse them? or some might say they are reconvert for some other reason? or the percentige is less? or does any one think dalits were weak and incapable of defending themself?

I never claimed dalits converted because of bhramin atrocity.99% of atrocities are done on dalits by BC/MBC castes.It is vanniyars in north and thevars in south who oppress dalits.

Dalits in madhya pradesh reconverted to hinduism in huge numbers.It was because of a BJP MP who is an ex-king in that area.I forgot his name.He used same tactics used by christian missionaries to reconvert them.I welcome it.

But this cannot be a long run solution.In long run castes have to be destroyed.Else india might even have a civil war.Just see the case of bihar,each caste has its own army over there.Naxalites attract dalits in 15 of 28 states in india.Unofficial estimates put their strength to around 150,000 armed rebels.Manmohan has said that naxals are the single largest threat to indian democracy.Dalits and tribals are drawn in huge numbers towards maoists.

The reservation on the basis of caste should gone. Even the Ambedkar has said that this is only a temporary solutions and reservation should be removed after some period of time. We brahmins should seek other options. We should not request for any reservations. If we seek reservation, there will be no difference between the Brahmins and the SC/STs. Why we need reservation ? In this era of globalisation, there is more oppertunity for us other than the Government jobs. Regarding the Educational reservation, we should start educational institutions for our childern, just like some communities are starting self financing colleges in Kerala specially for students of their caste/religion. Intercaste marrige should not be entertained in our community. We should try to bring back our past glory. Our efforts should be channellised towards that object. Sandhya Vandanams should be a daily routine, Should be pure vegetarians, should try to learn vedas, etc. The Kerala Brahmana sabha, the Tamil Nadu Brahmana Sabha and other similar associations should come forward to unite and strengthen the brahmin community.

Mr. Goundamani, whether he is a Brahmin or not, has every right to participate in this Forum and to express his views. This is the big difference between tamilbrahmins.com vs. other caste-based forums. We welcome everybody.

Goundamani, I wholeheartedly agree with you (so does everybody else) that castes must go for the survival of Hindu religion. However, you are barking at the wrong tree! The real culprit is the Government! Right from the day you were born, every application, form, and throughout school years and beyond, you are asked about your caste.
Goundamani, inter-caste marriage is going to take time. This is not something that you can mandate people to go thru. People's attitudes and mindset have to change; and, social changes happen very slowly.

The fellow who wrote the above is an idiot. Of the above KUMBHAM (which means KUDAM in Sanskrit), MESHAM ("MEZHAM") (which means AADU in Sanskrit), KATAKAM (which means NANDU or crab in Sanskrit), KANYA (KANNI is the Tamilised form) and THULA (called THULAM in Tamil & which means a "balance" in Sanskrit) are all Sanskrit words. When there are pure Tamil words why has the fellow used Sanskrit words ? For example, Thula is a Sanskrit word from which are derived Hindi words such as T(H)OLA and T(H)OLNA which means "to weigh" (Edai poduthal or Niruththal in Tamil).
After reading all this and other such material, I am extremely sorry for having been born as a brahmin in T.N. But thank God, I was born & brought up in a town near the Andhra border where there is no such rancour against the brahmins. In the northern districts like North Arcot & Chegalpattu, such brahmin hatred is not there. It is only in the central & southern districts of T.N. like South Arcot, Tanjavur, Tiruchi,Madurai,etc., such virulent anti-Brahminism is found. I did my P.U.C. (the present Plus 2) at Vellore and then went to Loyola College, Chennai for my graduation. None of the 79 students in our section in the Voorhees College, Vellore asked me what my caste was. I was never discriminated against because of my caste. But as soon as I went to Loyola, I could feel the difference. Of course those who had come from elite public schools never bothered about my caste but those from Tamil medium schools (from central & southern Tamil Nadu) wanted to know what my caste was. It was a great shock for me.

I am happy that you are born in northern dist where anti brahmins is less. But i went to school and my college in Erode dist which is main base for anti brahmins. But antibrahmins they can only abuse and insult us. But the brahmins will destroy brahmins, What can we do for it? I will post a new thread that will tell u who are this brahmins people.

I just dont buy this argument that the ONLY way to end oppression of Brahmins is to marry into other castes.This is a red herring, we as a community can cease to be the pole for all these brahmin bashers, yet continue to live and grow as a community.
Tell me how many Nadars will marry non-Nadars traditionally, not out of love?

Inter-caste marriage is NOT the solution, we as Brahmins should cease looking at ourselves and pitying our situation.Rather we should be aggressive , stand up, participate in politics and shed some of our centuries old traditions that are restricting and vilifying us.

Caste will change to "just another community",the masses will leave them be, like in North India where the Rajputs in reality oppress people and the Brahmins are just another community.

I am reminded of a very powerful piece of writing by Leo Tolstoy in his "Letter to a Hindu" written in 1908.
When the Indians complain that the English have enslaved them it is as if drunkards complained that the spirit-dealers who have settled among them have enslaved them. You tell them
that they might give up drinking, but they reply that they are so accustomed to it that they cannot abstain, and that they must have alcohol to keep up their energy. Is it not the same thing with the
millions of people who submit to thousands or even to hundreds, of others—of their own or other nations? "

Here in our case drinking is synonymous with caste based identification, the Dravidian parties just replace caste with DMK or DK or MDMK etc.
