Ambal (Devi) Facing South in Shiva Temples

Dear All,

As we all known that south is inauspicious face to keep the deity for Pooja rituals. But I am concerned in this concept. Because, in all Shiva Temples, Devi i.e Ambal is faced towards South. Can any one explain why Devi has been placed to face south and this is considering as auspicious?

Example:
1. Mylapore Kapalishwar - main deity facing west and Karpagambal facing south
2. Thiruvanmiyur Maruntheeswarar - main deity facing west and Thiripurasundarai facing south
3. Thanjavor Brahadeeswarar - main deity facing east and Periyanayagi facing south
etc.

Thanks!
Shivams!

Placement Direction of Deities in Pooja Room according to Vastu:
Create an altar by placing a low table in the Northeast or East or North of Northeast Sector of the Pooja Room. The deity should face West, Southwest or South so your face is toward the auspicious direction, ie East, Northeast or North.
West facing gods: Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesha, Sun, Indra, Karttikeya
Southwest facing gods: Lord Hanumana
South facing gods: Ganesh, Kuber, Durga, Bhairava, Shodash
Matrika
West facing gods are the creative energies of nature, the beginners. East is the direction Enlightment and New Beginnings. While worshipping these gods, face east and they will make you the intiator, the leaders and the glorious one. Lord Rama rewared lord hanumana, often called Mahabir, or the “great hero” with the gift of perpetual life and youth. He is the conqueror of evil spirits and the guardian deity. South facing gods represent evil spirits and are generally not worshipped in this form in the pooja room of residence. whenever you are in dilemma while choosing the face direction of the god’s idol, keep your mouth towards the northeast while praying so that the face of deity is towards southwest.

This one looks plausible explanation. But it is from quora.

The three worlds refer in Hinduism are milky way galaxy , Andromeda and Triangulum Galaxies which are visible to naked eye . Triangulum Galaxy is known as Tripuram which is the birth place of Dhakshayani or mata parvati .These two galaxies are north of our galaxy milky way . We look north for the Goddess of Tripuram and Lord Shiva whose aboard is Andromeda. Goddess look south for us . Andromeda Galaxy interacted with Tripuram and partly burnt it . Goddess and few stars which are saved and merged with Andromeda galaxy .This is called the marriage of Lord Shiva with Shakti . The balance of Galaxy Triangulum is under God Ganesha .
