After Modi Kurta, now Modi Jacket is also a registered trademark product.

The desi waistcoat popularly known as `Nehru Jacket' has been adorned with aplomb in brighter hues and different cuts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Named `Modi Jacket', the waistcoat is a now a registered label - the trademark was obtained on May 16, 2014 by Ahmedabad-based clothing firm, Jade Blue. It will be launched in different clothing materials by the store owner, who has been dressing Modi over the past decade, at the inauguration of new outlet in Pune on Sunday.

"Modi jacket is different from Nehru jacket - it does not have the trademark hook at the neck. Unlike the desi waistcoats, Modi jacket has darts at the pockets which give a slimming effect to the wearer. It is also a good two inches longer than the Nehru waistcoat. Most importantly, Modi jacket stands out for its colours - no staid white and cream colour - it comes in the brightest pinks, blues and even yellows," says Bipin Chauhan, proprietor of the clothing chain, who was given personal nod by Modi to trademark his name for kurtas.

Sporting PM's style would definitely not be cheap on the pocket - price ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.

Why do you say it is expensive, Sir?

Shirts are selling at Rs. 3000/ + and one pure silk saree costs Rs. 10,000/ + !!

The silk sarees sold below that range are polyester mixes, with artificial zari,

which used to be known as 'Japan Zari', when it was introduced in the 60s!

prasadji expects indians in india to wear cotton veshti and make a style statement.

somehow gents dresses are not given much importance

in my younger days there used to be cloth known as 'bleeding madras'

the cloth used to change colour with each wash

people fancied shirts made out of that cloth.

these days no south india reception in marriages is complete without bridegroom in churidhar and achkan[ worn nehru style]

Almost all the pink blouse bits in cotton are bleeding in every wash!

I wonder how the color remains pink even after a number of washes!! :noidea:

Dear Krish Sir,

Just have a look at this page:

They choose such suits for their wedding reception! :thumb:
thanks .very nice

my son got one like this for himself complete with headgear for his marriage reception from traditional tailors from chandni chowk delhi who specialises in such things

Not to be left behind ,I got one made for myself, . my wife thought it was ridiculous for an oldie to do it.

I had told my son I will match him in everything and there is healthy competition even in dressing.lol

Dear Krishna 44, I must add to what you have mentioned about Bleeding Madras .
It was, mainly referred to the typical red mixed colour with which Shirts were made and exported to U.S., And earned
