Brahma – The Gravity
According to science, Gravity is the first property to be expressed by this energy and matter. According to current scientific understanding Gravity was the first force to be separated from a unified force-field.
According to Puranas, Brahma is the first one to come out and symbolizes the start of creation in the Universe, as science talks about Gravity. Yet according to Vedas, Brahma is not the Supreme power. Similarly Gravity is just one aspect of force-field and not the supreme force-field in science.
The Names and Faces of Brahma
‘Brh’ma means one that is very large. Science says Gravity has the longest range (almost inifinite). Gravity is indeed Brhma (very large). In Vishnu Purana, sage Parasara says the word Brahma came from 'Vriha' which means increasing as it is infinite in reach.
Hiranyagarbha means one that has inert interior. Hiranya is interpreted as Gold. That is because Gold is inert. But Hiranya is the property of Gold, its inertness.
Nabhija means one that originates from Center.
Ka-Ancha means ‘Who bends/inclines’.
According to science, Gravity has a very long range. It attracts towards it center. It bends/inclines even space and light towards it. It is the ‘twin’ of inertia, in the sense all energy and matter possess both properties.
These descriptions fit Brahma to good extent. ‘Brh’ma means one that is very large or very great. This fits the description of range of gravity. Nabhi-ja means one that originates from center. Force of Gravity originates from its center (or attracts objects towards its center). Ka-Ancha means one who bends/inclines. Gravity is known to bend space and even light. HiranyaGarbha means one that has inert interior. Since Gold is inert, Gold is also called Hiranya. Gravity, according to this definition, rises from inert interior.
Though force of Gravity may seem to represent the energy/matter of an object at first look, it does not represent the matter/energy of a particular object. Force of Gravity perceived of an object, at a point, is the sum of forces of gravity of all objects around and hence it does not represent the matter/energy of a particular object.
Brahma in Vishnu Purana
In Book 3, Chapter 3, Sage Parasara tells Sage Maitreya that the word Brahma is derived from the root Vriha (to increase), because it is infinite (spirit)". Here Brahma is also described as infinite, invisible, imperishable, invariable, self-engendered, indivisible, undecaying and of multi-form.
In Book 1 Chapter 22, Sage Parasara tells Sage Maitreya "There are two states of this Brahma ; one with, and one without, shape; one perishable, and one imperishable; which are inherent in all beings. The imperishable is the supreme Brahma; the perishable is what manifests in all the worlds. The blaze of fire burning on one spot diffuses light and heat around. So the world is nothing more than the (manifested) energy of the supreme Brahma and, inasmuch, Maitreya, as the light and heat are stronger, or feebler, as we are near to the fire, or far off from it, so the energy of the supreme is more or less intense, in the beings that are less or more remote."
Let's substitute Brahma with Gravity, Imperishable with Potential, perishable with Kinetic, beings with objects, in the above wordings and read them again
In Book 1 Chapter 22, Sage Parasara tells Sage Maitreya "There are two states of this Gravity ; one with, and one without, shape; one Kinetic, and one Potential; which are inherent in all objects. The Potential is the supreme Gravity; Kinetic is what manifests in all the worlds. The blaze of fire burning on one spot diffuses light and heat around. So the world is nothing more than the (manifested) energy of the Gravity and, inasmuch, Maitreya, as the light and heat are stronger, or feebler, as we are near to the fire, or far off from it, so the energy caused by Gravity is more or less intense, in the objects that are less or more remote"
Indeed force of Gravity depends on distance. Indeed it is the Gravitational potential energy that is imperishable, while the Kinetic energy is perishable and is explicitly seen in the Universe. Indeed the entire Universe is a manifestation of that Gravity as it is Gravity that makes us the Universe what it is. Indeed Gravity is the first and foremost force that emerges according to science.
Birth and Death with respect to the Primitive Source
Sage Parasara continues "Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva are the most powerful energies of god. Next to them are the inferior deities; then, daksha and the likes ;then, men; then, animals,: birds, insects, vegetables:! each becoming more and more feeble (less powerful), as they are further from their primitive source. In this way , illustrious Brahman, this whole world, although (in essence) imperishable and eternal, appears and disappears, as if it was subject to birth and death."
Let's substitute Brahma with Gravity, Vishnu with Inertia and Siva with Dark Energy. Read this again.
Sage Parasara continues "Gravity, Inertia, and Dark Energy are the most powerful manifestations.. Next to them are the inferior dieties; then, daksha and the likes; then, men; then, animals,: birds, insects, vegetables:! each becoming more and more feeble (less powerful), as they are further from their primitive source. In this way, illustrious Brahman, this whole world, although (in essence) imperishable and eternal, appears and disappears, as if it was subject to birth and death"
In the above Sage Parasara explains beautifully the concept of death.
The primitive source is the Supreme Consciousness. It is imperishable and eternal. From it evolves Gravity, Inertia and Dark Energy. They are imperishable and eternal for the duration of the Universe. Then comes the Quark-Gluon Plasma and other sub-atomic particles. They are more perishable than these forces, but are more imperishable than the atoms and elements. The atoms and elements are more perishable than sub-atomic elements but more imperishable than compounds. The biological beings that evolve out of compounds are more perishable than these compounds.
Thus as matter and beings evolve in more complex forms, they travel farther from that primitive source they die faster and are born again.
Even in the biological beings bacteria and other primitive forms live longer than more complex beings. For eg. many primitive forms just divide. These forms live longer than plant forms in that sense. Plant forms as a rule live longer than animal forms.
The exception for it are those have accumulated higher amounts of intelligence like human beings. Human beings live longer than many other earlier life forms, as they have evolved higher intelligence and are travelling back towards the Supreme Consciousness.
In other words human beings are in the evolutionary path towards realizing that Supreme consciousness. They will live longer and longer as they go nearer to that Supreme consciousness.
Gravitational Time Dilation
The stories in puranas that state Brahma Loka's 1 day is 1 Kalpa which is billions of years in earth arise from the principle of Gravitational Time dilation.
Science says that clocks which are far from massive bodies (or at higher gravitational potentials) run faster, and clocks close to massive bodies (or at lower gravitational potentials) run slower.
The Puranic stories should have risen from the fact that Brahma is Gravity. Let's read the above statement mapping Higher Gravitational potential as Supreme Brahma, as we read in the Vishnu Purana.
Science says that clocks which are far from Supreme Brahma run faster, and clocks close to Supreme Brahma run slower.
The above is what exactly Puranic stories say.
Difference between Siva, Skanda, Hari and Vishnu
According to science, Potential and Kinetic are associated with energy. Force-fields are associated with forces.
Energy is Siva and Skanda. Siva is Dark Energy and is also a force that keeps expanding the Universe. Skanda is the energy that 'perspired' from the Dark-Energy. Skanda are the six energy types seen in Universe. Forces and fields are Rudras.
For easy understanding, in classical world, Energy is force multiplied by distance or integral of force acting over an object. So Siva, Skanda, Rudras are all related.
Potential and Kinetic associated with the energy are Vishnu.
According to science, Potential and Kinetic define the state of these energy. These are caused 'by nature'. The conversion from potential to kinetic happens 'by nature' or based on circumstances.
But Vedas say beyond the Energy (siva and skanda) and force-fields (Rudras) is Supreme Consciousness (Hari). This Hari causes the Potential and Kinetic in the Energy as seen in this Universe.
This Hari, the Supreme Consciousness manifests as Inertia (Vishnu) in the Universe internally. The inertia (Vishnu) manifests as Gravity (Brahma) externally. This Brahma also creates a Rudra (force-field).
Thus Hari, Vishnu, Krishna and those names of Vishnu are all associated with Supreme consciousness or the manifestations of the Supreme consciousness in the Universe.
