Adi Shankaracharya's Ganga stotram

Shiva is energy, known only through its effects. A sAksi. This energy manifests in various forms, one of which is motion or mechanical energy symbolized by River Ganga. As ganga-mAta descends from the 'heavens', flows through earth to merge into ocean, she teaches us to be detached, unbound and keep moving through.

Ga means moving. bhagI-ratha is one who has glorious chariot/motion. The River Ganga mAtA as daughter of bhagiratha, keeps moving always, teaching us that being detached and moving always leads to happiness.

Ganga (as river) makes us realize being detached & moving ahead helps breaks barriers, manage twists and turns, nourish those around us, remove impurities. Ganga as motion energy (of stars, planets etc) is what sustains Universe evolution.

What if earth stops its motion..? Being detached and moving is Ganga's very nature. Impeding Ganga's motion is similar to impeding the motion of planets is what we gleam from the sloka.

Can we afford it..?
