From Jan 2017 Aadhar is needed for reservations and is mandatory from 1/4/2017 This is my experience! Today I booked my ticket to chennai and presented my ஆதார் அட்டை ... But it is no ஆதாரம்(Proof) for claiming sr citizen concession as it doesn't have date of birth but only the year of birth printed on the card ! Then I gave the PAN card which has the date of birth! I think she managed to link my Aadhar with Irtc and issued the ticket
