Giving away Kachchattivu and treating Sinhala-Tamil issues lightly will also haunt us if we are talking of whole India.

tamil nationalism will flourish eventually. the indian foreign policy has always be north/northwest geocentric.

it may have been better if we had just occupied sri lanka and made it part of india.

again sir, you are missing the south and the genocide of tamils in sri lanka. how could you?

Dear Kunjs,

I had always thought of this..why no one thought of walking over and claim it..after all Ravana is no more there!

Even Lord Rama was reluctant to take conquer it..Lord Rama should have made Lanka a Union Territory and made Vibhishana the Union Territory Minister with HQ in Ayodhya!

If Sri Lanka is unable to manage its territory well with equanimity and justice and instead create artificial cleavages then the territorial integrity of Lanka is a big question mark..Sooner it realizes that, better for it!

If india, tamilnadu, norway, canada and usa stop meddling in the affairs of srirlanka, the country will splendidly manage its affairs. LTTE like outfits must be curbed in the bud stage. Majority of tamils in srilanka do not want external interference; the newly elected tamil leaders also want to be left alone. There was a bloody civil war and healing will be a slow process. I see srirlankans as tambrams only, as they are attacked by the dravidian parties and christian and missionary interests. If usa intervenes in the affairs of any country under the guise of human rights, war crimes etc. that country is doomed; the US will leave the country badly bruised and bleeding.

Kunjuppu, in one of your replies you had told that your father is from PSG Tech, Coimbatore. Self 1969-1974 B.E.Met. Hope your dad is from the same batch?

we can all have different opinion of ltte and the civil war.

but we should all be united, in the way the sri lankan army treat the tamils living in jaffna TODAY. the refugee camps and outright occupation of tamil owned houses, populating the northern sri lanka with sinhalese, are abominable examples of genocide and population re engineering.

and an investigation of war crimes committed by individual sri lankan soldiers. even today the british p.m. has called for it.

the war is over. we are talking post war.

UPA has proved to be incapable of taking a strong stand on this issue. A regime change in the center might help things though I am not that hopeful!
