I have gone through Vasthu texts. It is only a belief.
Many of the vasthu consultants residing at Chennai are exploiting people.

I would pose the following to receive a sustainable / acceptable answer, especially from the elderly Brahmins, based on real life experience & no
flimsy reasons.
Take the case of Agraharams in Tamil Nadu :- 1) Invariably it will have Streets on both sides & at one end there would be a Temple.
2) If the street has houses on south side & North side, the God in the temple would be facing the East & It would be an Ideal Agraharam
3)since normally wold say ( whether it is as per Vastu or not )South facing house is always the best.In the case of Agraharam only 50 %would reap the benefit can it be so ?
4) How can the Vastu experts explain this position in the context of presecontention of VASTU ?t

Rishikesan ( A. Srinivasan )

One of my close relatives 'corrected' his house according to vAstu.

1. Closed the existing well and dug a new one.

2. Demolished a huge garage and parked the car in the portico.

3. Made a depression in the central beam of the hall to make it appear as two beams.

4. Changed the Swami room.

5. Made the bedroom as kitchen and vice versa.

You know what! He sold the house within one year!

When we renovated our bathrooms recently, the plumber said the direction of the commodes are wrong!

We kept one as it is and changed only the other so as to handle the hand shower easily!

Sowgariyaththukku sAsthram!!

# 1, is there a legal contract that binds both the parties..If there is none...The Vastu consultant need not worry...

Have you taken the horoscope matching astrologer to task in case of a mishap in life?

Vastu Josiam Consultants are not doing free service They call them professional some have even prefix Prof. or Dr. to their Names - Charge huge cosultation fees more then even Superspeciality doctors and remedy suggested cost more than a By pass or joint replacements - yet there is no regulator for them. When doctor can face negligance slapped on them why not these professions If their services are free then Like doctors they may not be dragged to court! My view once you take consultation fee it is an unwritten contract between the consultant and the client! Let us wait the courts verdict on this!

ix) Service rendered at a government hospital/health centre/dispensary where no charge whatsoever was made from any person availing of the services and all patients (rich and poor) weregiven free service was outside the purview of the expression 'service' as defined in section 2(1)(0) of the Act The payment of a token amount for registration purpose only at the hospital/nursing home would not alter the position.

Very juicy but would you deny medical science if the doctor himself is ill. Let us not despise our own sastram like cine actor Vivek. Let us not add up to the curse of its Adhi Devatha .

Science is not sastram Science is dynamic Changing for better every day based on new data and reviews on existing available inputs Sastras are spiritual dogmas not to be reviewd and static & stagnant Science needs proof sastra is only interpretation of certain observation that cannot be explained logically and hence assumed to be true! and promoted as science . If Doctor is sick he will also have to take treatment from another doctor This vastu consultant has to consult another one and make his House Vastu compliant to get out of his troubles!

From today you may not get Popular Vicks Action 500 Reason - Review of in puts This combination has no proven benefits Can Sastras stand such scutiny and audit by regulator?

If our sastram is not science based what else is so. I just laughed at your comments. Science also is subject to interpretations for the sake of improvement of conclusion.

The vastu consultants are big cheats.

There is no need to consult a vastu consultant if your puja room Perumal sannidhi is in tact. The direction that the Perumal is facing is taken as east. and the rest of the things just do not matter.

The agraharams were built to a certain specifications. The agraharams had a Vishnu temple in the west of the streets. It had a Siva and amman temple in the east of the agraharams. The Siva would still be facing east and only the amman will be facing south. there will be a Ganapathy temple in the south west corner of the agraharam. All other devatas will have their temples outside the agraharam. The vastu sastra will be applicable to the agraharam as a whole and not to the individual houses as the houses are all connected by common walls.

Toilet seats should be such that one who sits on them will be facing north or south. Certainly not east or west.

This comes from our sastras and Ahnikam rules.

Following or giving up is individual's dicision.

Thanks for your quote of the day.
Temples are built as per Aghama Satras. In brahmin agraharam there will always be a river or a big tank and the streets are built nearby. The stationing of street is in conformity with the temple and water sources. Kerala vastu sastram will not apply to other places where the sea is not in the western side of the earth. The air is drawn towards vaccum due to heat transiton. If this flow of wind is arrested by an artificial obstruction on earth it escapes through another gap which may not be in straight line. When it is individual house irrespective of its facing direction it should be built to accommodate free air flow. The oxygen supply increases this way which is useful for Pranayamam and Agni Karyam in a Brahmin house. THE Vastu sastram is relevent to those brahmins who are interested in good health consequently for retaining the material wealth.

.....
Dear Vaagmi Sir,

Yes! Our plumber also said so.

In a lighter vein, I used to think of this reason for facing North or South while doing the jobbie.

In earlier days, people used open space for this purpose and thought facing East or West might be too showy.

Most people are half baked and cheat the people.
As long as people volunteer themselves to get cheated, cheaters will thrive and even flourish.

Whether it is constipation or loose motion will depend only on what you ate for the breakfast that day.

Blame it on Breakfast for Toilet related problems - and credit for normal healthy routine goes to Vatsu! Consult Dr. Vasu and not Dr Vastu for Toilet related problems!

The Vaastu Sastra applied to the palatial houses of the upper castes and to temples only, in the olden days. The very first requirement of the Vaastu is that any construction must be on a perfectly square plot and all other kinds of rectangular or irregular shaped plots are all to be rejected! And the Vaastu Saastra of old Travancore dealt mainly and mostly with residences of the type of the old Namboodiri "illams" with 8 or 16 very large rooms plus all additions such as cow shed/s, well/s, shed for fuel wood (விறகு புர) and also the temple for the family's "kula deivam" etc. The kind of plots involved in such cases used to measure quarter hectare or something like that!

Agrahaarams do not satisfy the Vaastu requirements at all; they were the result of an "alien" TB population which was trying to find its foothold among the non-TB people and devised this new concept of "aggregated living" and also sharing cost of walls, etc. Since the original agrahaaram houses were very large, there was not much of loss of privacy as it is today when the original "one house" has been divided over the generations into 8, 10 or may be even more! As for good luck/bad luck of residents in agrahaaram houses, the two happened when they were fated. Sometimes the partition of the house, length-wise was blamed for ill-luck.

Modern Vaastu is a money-making trick and aims at combining some aphorismd of the old vaastu along with Feng Shui and other similar belief systems around the world, and those who believe shell out the money!

Commodes in the latrine can face any direction, but, generally TBs prefer not facing east because it is the direction from which the "Sarvasaakshi" Sun god rises in the morning and we do all our poojas, japams etc., with the deity facing east.
