This fault finding mentality in educated classes is appalling.

The british education was given to certain classes to make them their servants to govern the country.

They framed laws and rules to suit themselves and used educated indians to aapply these rules on other indians.

Even after independance , this mentality persists in educated classes.

A friend of mine is a Chief of a famous Hospital in City. The hospital is known for best maintenance especially in post-operative treatment and during convalescing. And he used to conduct review meeting regularly on every casualty I mean in every perioperative mortality cases. This exercise is only to identify the mistakes and to take corrective measures. The very purpose is to analyze whether all the prescribed procedures were adhered to in every case like Anesthesiologists recommendations, etc.as surgeons employ various methods in assessing whether a patient is in an optimal condition from a medical standpoint prior to undertaking surgery. This review is done to find out the root cause for the casualty and I hope this exercise is being followed in most of the Hospitals. As surgery involves risk factor, such review is considered as a must to ensure fool proof system.


Only some sportive minds will accept this. Incorrigible minds don’t.

Most critics of public issues have either a vested interest or are people who are idle useless people with nothing positive to contribute to society at large.

Thy file PILs in courts, write letters to various govt agencies on something or other just to occupy their time and to come to public limelight.

Many retired types besides out of work politicians and social types with money wanting recognition calling themselves social workers fall into this category.

Those who have nothing to do except engage in this interesting occupation.


Retirement living without causing too much nuisance to society is a serious issue.

Many engage in harassing their children and neighbours are nuisance creators in their homes and neighbourhood.

More enterprising ones do this criticism of those doing something useful and quoting some rule or other

Most social activists have absolutely no vested interest when they take up public issues, all that they seek is justice, fairness , good governance, fufling promises made, etc. etc.

But on the contrary, they are people who are idle, useless with nothing positive to think or contribute to society at large, have a tendency to accept whatever the parties in power do whether it is corruption, mismanagement, misrule, flaws, etc as they don't have necessary guts to fight, to agitate, to rise their voice,etc

Such spineless citizen have no other alternative except to lead a submissive life accepting whatever comes in the way and singing songs of praise of their loveable leader.

They don’t have enough guts to file PILs in courts, they don’t have enough courage to write letters to various Govt agencies on something or other and such members instead of wasting their time by writing blah blah postings, can go and relax, have a mug full of classic beer and sip it, role the tongue around to expose the taste buds to the mesmerizing flavor and enjoy the texture of this delicious beverage by a gulp.

Many retired types who have no energy and lack minimum initiative to question, injustice or unfair activities will prefer to close their eyes and just get into their loveable hobby of wandering in dream world and take a radical avatar and start writing like a revolutionary crusader. But nothing tangible is achieved in reality.

Those who have social consciousness and those who worry for the welfare of the society will engage in fight against such activities.


Some have no age for retirement on such social issues.

In Chennai we have one social activist byname Traffic Ramaswamy who at the age of 83 is in news everyday by filing cases against the ruling party for corruption and for other misdeeds.

While we have such active social activists at the age of 80 +, with bubbling enthusiasm and burning urge to fight for the welfare of the society, we too have some dead woods, wandering in dream world and write like an expert without any logic but purely with all imagination.

I visited several places and we cannot ignore the good work done by dedicated Govt employees belonging to Army, National Disaster Force, Police, Traffic police, PWD, Conservancy (Garbage removal), Revenue, Fire Service, Health, Electricity, BSNL - not to undermine lakhs of youngsters, who spent their time round the clock in rescue operations. I fully agree with your view that chennai rains has been handled excellently by govt agencies, social activists and defence forces.

I do not know if Modi govt will give money for building houses for the poor who have lost all as asked for by the tamilnadu govt

A massive program for housing for the poor is called for

The topic is who are responsible for the disaster, the flood which has ravaged Chennai killing hundred of people and damaging properties worth several crores. The root causes and the lapses are dealt with in detail.

The reason that Amma is unable file a case of defamation against this article goes without saying that it has some valid material to substantiate the allegation.

Praising about the rescue and relief measures initiated during/after the flood is totally a different issue.

Why there is no rebuttal from the Chief Secretary?

Maintaining silence on such allegation, may lead one to think that there may substance in the article published.

General public are bound to know the facts.

And it is the responsibility of the Government to come out with necessary clarifications, rebuttal, etc

Excellent Sir. Only an unbiased mind can think like this ! I have seen Govt officials toil without proper food and rest for days together to bring back normalcy. I visited several places and we cannot ignore the good work done by dedicated Govt employees belonging to Army, National Disaster Force, Police, Traffic police, PWD, Conservancy (Garbage removal), Revenue, Fire Service, Health, Electricity, BSNL - not to undermine lakhs of youngsters, who spent their time round the clock in rescue operations. "குணம் நாடி, குற்றமும் நாடி இவற்றின் மிகை நாடி மிக்கக் கொளல்" - by Saint Thiruvalluvar.

Well said. Yes,this is an unprecedented disaster inflicted by nature on Chennai. Perhaps a warning message against people robbing the nature's wealth indiscriminately. There may be any number of valid reasons for this, but this is not the time to accuse and finding fault on someone or other.This will discourage thousands of Government employees doing selfless work 24 x 7 hrs to clean and restore normalcy in the city. People living out side Tamil Nadu understand that the present Government of Tamil Nadu has been doing a great job in facing the situation in excellent cordination with all State and Central Agencies. Volunteers and NGOs are pouring food and other essentials without any political considerations. It is only the Politicians who try to encash the sufferings of the people, by reckless statements.
