Double tumbler system is an abominable system practiced in tea shops and hotels in some villages in TN. In this practice, people belonging to lower castes are not served tea or food on regular cups or plates. A separate tumbler or plate is kept outside the shops which the low caste people have to use and clean.

To anwer your question, Viswanathaswamy, it is not practised by Brahmins. It is practiced by some of the so called backward caste people against people belonging to scheduled castes. These so called backward caste people dont even let people belonging to scheduled castes take part in elections even in reserved constituencies.

So vishwanathaswamy, you need to direct your question to those people who practice these. Not to Brahmins.

Ramki

Dear Viswanathaswamy
What does it mean - "double tumbler"?
