    yeah ambes,
Anna is such good work (satyagraha - to kindle patriotism in Gandhian way), talk about common man and his problems due to rampant corruption - has brought a whiff of good air !!

dont know the fate of the bill, when it comes to execution !! All twists and loopholes come in when it comes to execution of any bill.

anyways the start towards the bill by Anna, awareness and mass people support, looks good....

yeah this and many more epetition links are floating around - thanks to you and internet for creating this awareness.

It is now time for a new India - without corruption !!

Let’s at least pass the Message on and enlighten ppl on what is the Importance of this Anna Hazare’s Hunger Strike….. !!!!!!!!!
    1. Who is Anna Hazare?
    An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War

    2. What's so special about him?
He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra

    3. So what?
This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills.
In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly & harmonic village.

    4. Ok,...?
This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.

    5. Really, what is he fighting for?
He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

    6. How that can be possible?
He is advocating for a Bil, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

    8. It's an entirely new thing right..?
In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

    7. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?
The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.
Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the LOK PAL BILL. 50% goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not suit them.

    8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?
A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years, the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any result.

    9. Is he alone? Whoelse is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?
Baba Ramdev, Ex. IPS Kiran Bedi, Social Activist Swami Agnivesh, RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and many more.
Prominent personalities like Aamir Khan is supporting his cause.

    10. Ok, got it. What can I do?
At least we can spread the message. How?
Putting status message, links, video, changing profile pics.

At least we can support Anna Hazare and the cause for uprooting corruption from India.
At least we can hope that his Hunger Strike does not go in vain.
At least we can pray for his good health.

I am really filled with reverence for this great man with very little formal education. During my training once we were told about the results of this simple man's relentless efforts to improve the Ralegaon-Siddhi village. That, from 121 crore people only this man has the moral courage to go on fast, speaks volumes IMO.

I wish him good health, success in his endeavour and many, many more years on the face of earth.

personally i think, anna should have fasted more. calling it off, once again, shows that every movement in india, loses steam half way through, is more emotionally charged than well planned and thought out.

by stopping the fast, he has compromised on his principles, as now upa can draft any bill. what is anna going to do, if he does not like the bill? start fast again? the man should have continued fasting till the bill was passed in the parliament. but then death is a frightening event for most people, and anna is only but a human.

    here goes another bus vaanam

I don't think so, Kunjuppu. Drafting a bill is not a job of one or two days. Yes, Anna can always protest if the draft bill or the bill as finally passed by Lok Sabha is not effective; he can also go on fast if the government drags its feet in bringing the draft bill before the Parliament. I will therefore say he has been pragmatic. In the process he has also shown the UPA govt., how people feel about corruption. This spectre will not leave the sleep of MMS and Sonia till the next elections, I believe.

    kunjuppu,
i dont accept this as vain effort.. yes as sangom has told it will take many more days to actually formulate the bill and form and committee etc. But this good samaritan, Anna Hazare has brought in so much awareness among Indian citizens and way to take to forward to younger generations.

when opposition was boycotting parliament, taking rallies or talking about all the scams, it was looked upon as political vendetta, and they congress was just taking things for granted and did not even bother to call investigations early... they just slept and slept over the matter and when all the evidences were almost washed away by the culprits made an eye wash to public by appointing investigations into scams...

atleast now, congress has been shaken by people participation -- for this thanks to Anna !!

Veerappa Moily said today that the bill can be ready by Aug 15th, independence day of this year 2011. It is still congress and they have immense pressure

When they pass this bill, first thing the lokayuktas should do is to create complaints against karunanidhi dynasty, amma dynasty and gandhi dynasty with all the cronies. This i want to see happening...

Remember the lokpal bill can only be used against logical or physical evidence for example if a kid is refused education the lokpal can act, but if the school itself doesn't exist in that area it can't. Ombudsmen ( means representative in swedish) is a very powerful body and we can see scandinavian countries who are mostly free of corruption, example Finland, 0% corruption.

Congress worst fear is that lokpal can become like a dictator. We need this bill to be passed as soon as possible. We can start cleaning up the system for a better future.

Somewhere I read that nearly 65% of Indians/Chinese/Russians either GIVE or TAKE bribes routinely.. bribe is considered by these people as "the cost of doing business" with the Gov't. As such, unless there is a cultural change from the bottom-up, the "retail corruption" can't be abolished in India (China or Russia). Anna Hazare has started this movement with a noble intension... how far he can achieve "corruption-free India" in his endeavor is quite uncertain.

More than passing the law, it's the quick and widespread implementation of the law is the most important thing. India passed "anti-dowry law" in early 1960s... but it's rarely implemented or enforced... this new LokPal may meet the same fate. Again, who will be the Enforcer, and how good or bad that person(s) will be?

    Wait & watch.
