Hi,
I just registered here. I have been looking for such a forum for sometime. Every group/caste/language/religion has a forum of some sort except the Brahmins of Tamilnad. Thanks for this initiative and wish you all success with the forum.

Hi friends,

I am a Telugu who has had excellent friends among Tamil Brahmin community from childhood ("cheddi friends"). I respect them for their traditionalism and intellect, and deeply empathise with them. Ironically, Telugus seem to think that in Tamilnadu things are very good for Brahmins. It does not appear so from the discussion of the threads on this forum.

2000 years of continued attacks on Hinduism, more specifically on Brahminism, by Huns, Mongols, Slave kings, Muslim conquerers (who grave graphic accounts in their "Shahnamahs" on how they killed Brahmins enmasse in temples), Christian Inquisitioneers (the Goan Inquisition during the Portuguese Rule against Saraswat Brahmins, started by "Saint" Francis Xavier, was the cruelest and longest lasting Catholic Inquisition in the world, involving burnings at stake, torture & rapes going by the Government of Portugal's records, for which Vatican is yet to formally apologise even as they talk of "harvest of faith" in India.) etc., could not conclusively put this community down. If would be very sad if this happens now because of Brahmins giving up their pursuit of education and higher thinking.

I feel that against all odds, Tambrams should keep trying, and keep pushing. If not this State, some other State, and if not this country, some other country are likely to give shelter to them as long as Tamil Brahmins stick to their Brahminism. The moment they abandon their value system, that's the end. Haven't Brahmin decendents like Sir V.S.Naipaul won accolades in far of places such as West Indies?

After all, we are like jews. Progress made by Brahmins makes others hate us, and this will happen in future also. So let us find newer pastures and newer fields where we can venture into, and become successful even as we retain our traditions.

It has been wonderful to discover this forum, and I will eagerly look forward to the discussions.

Hi All,
I just registered here. i am been looking for a form to meet other friends in brahmin community. Hope i will get many. Thank you

Hi,
I just registered here. I do not want to talk about the atrocities that were committed against us ( by us here, I also include the general community that follow sanatana dharma! ) but about the current trend of diluting our community which I feel is the greatest threat to sanatana dharma. God willing, like hope has been expressed here earlier, we shall overcome this onslaught on our culture too.

Am ready for the war!

kaushik.

Hi all!
Wonderful to hit a site dedicated to Tambrams. I've been looking for such a forum to meet Tamil Brahmins across the globe. Thank you guys for creating such a platform & I hope to make some new friends here.

Hey, this website seems a very good idea to connect to special people around the world.
Special as we are, in terms of culutre, intelligence, mind power as also good looks.
This attempt to give a form to thoughts is something I wholly appreciate. Kudos to the facilitator

Yes Ms. Priya, We are special, but we also have drawbacks. Compared to others, brahmins are weak by heart. They fall easy pray to desires. More of Brahmins see porno sites! Once intelligence manifests, desires also manifest. May be intelligent people have more desires! These desires weaken the person enormously. To be rid of negative habits like looking at opposite sex, smoking, drinking, gossipping and jealously will mean 90% in progress! So you advise your students, particularly Brahmins, to be rid of negative habits. Then getting any skill is cakewalk.

Dear gss_vasan:

What are you talking about, man? There is absolutely nothing wrong with desires to have things; we are mortals and we all have to go thru life in stages.
Since when looking at the opposite sex is a negative habit? - unless you are a hemit or a monk??

And.... welcome aboard, gss_vasan! we are happy you have joined us!

apart from being brahmins we are also human. we all have the same feeling like love anger fear etc. so what is wrong in watching skin flick and also going to temple. remember we are from the land of vatsayana and the hindu religion is not against sexuality(look at the temple walls)
thanks

Hi all,

SIR - I am NARAS from chennai. since nobody has mentioned his or her original name i have also adopted a pseudonym. i have mixed feelings about this forum. there are some good postings highlighting positive aspects of brahminism. but there are many hate postings showing bramins in extremely poor light (e.g. 'bramins drunk alcohol, bramins ate meat, bramins should apologize to dalits etc.,). but i understand , being an online forum, there is a disadvantage that, we do not know the exact background of the members. so it is possible that even non bramins and worse, anti bramins could also become members of this site! this is not a healthy trend, but unavoidable considering that this is an online forum.

Dear Naras:
It is ok to have a nom de plume. At the same time, this Forum has been the most democratic and respect of free speech; we have non-brahmin members who write and voice their opinions.
The few postings (viduthalai) you saw were 'spams' and were deleted right away. I personally would keep them for all members to see how low these scums can go to denigrate us. Besides, the whole idea of these scums to resort to name-calling is to ruffle our feathers. If left to me, I would laugh at them; wouldn't bother me a bit. As the old adage goes - you ignore when a dog barks at you.

Naras - not all of us write with a pseudonym. atleast I dont.. I was called Bhooma when I made my appearance on this earth and am still called that !!

Hi all,

Just joined this fab site a couple of days ago.I live in Glasgow, Scotland Uk.There are no Tam Brams in Glasgow so this forum is perfect for me.The discussions are superb.Hope to make some friends here.

An agenda for the Tamil Brahmins

Hi all, I am a TamBrahm who has grown up in a Leafy Government Colony in Delhi now working working working and working in a large glass building in Gurgaon. I speak fluent Hindi ( including a smattering of its different dialects like Khari Boli and Maggi ) but I cannot read and write Tamil, my Tai-muzhi. I still identify myself strongly as a Tam Brahm, have to end even Naan-Kaali dal meals with thayir shadam and pickles. I have grown completely isolated from the political disenfranchisement and social isolation of brahmins in TN. It only hit me when our Pope, the Shankaracharya was jailed.

Here is what I wish we could do as a community. Come together as one and work collectively for the benefit of all, for this we need an organization that could be so:

1. A few dedicated and honest Individuals, like retd SC judges, Sr bureaucrats and Generals, CEOs or NRIs who have no personal agendas be elected leaders, trustees and sevaks/sevikas and mgrs of a central corpus - the Tamil Brahmin welfare and development contributory fund to which every TamBrahm gives 2% of his income.
2. Establish a Global Tamil Brahmin Data bank where besides birth and blood group and education , sub-caste, place of origin, Veda specialization, horoscope, and all other cultural co-ordinates are stored, available online and updated on a regular basis and available in a "Smart Card"- my suggestion is this be inclusive of those non-Tam Brahmins married into the community as well - i believe culture & faith are more important than "pure" blood.( I mean, would you have kept MS subbalaksmi out?)
3. Use the fund to ensure that those priests specialized in the rituals receive a stipend and their work properly video-docunented for posterity besides establishng a panel to certify fully trained Vaidikas of different disciplines.

4. Establish community primary and high schools of the highest standard affliated to the IB programme - not CBSE or the State Boards - with free education for all Tamil Brahmins and free of any govt-imposed reservation criteria.
5. Sponsor intensive training through Brilliants, IMS, Kota aggarwal and other coaching programs to ensure a high number of Tamil Brahmmin youth get into IITs, IIMs and prestigious medical colleges. Use the IB curriculum and demarcated fund money to ensure admission and sponsorship of the most number of our boys and girls into ivy league US colleges
6. Fund social initiatives like an elderly retreat, a community medical insurance fund
7. patronage of arts and crafts and heritage structures of the Tamil land and South India.
8. We have to give back to our motherland. In modern times, we are a community with a distinct identity , not a caste superior to any other. Let us help those far more debased than us in Tamil Nadu, the dalits - my suggestion is that 15% of all sponsorships, school admissions, international scholarships and every other benefit goes into a Dalit Empowerment Program that helps the poorest of the poor. All they need to do is respect vegetarianism inside school, canteen and temple premises - I suggest complete Sanskrit and Vedic tutoring for them in addition to the other subjects and indoctrination in Brahmin concepts of hygeine.
9. The Dalit Empowerment Program should be carried out a) because it is the right thing to do after 25 centuries of oppression,b) it will create self-confident Dalits so smart that they will top exams without reservation and inspire their community C) They will see our sincere wish to help them become equals and protect us with their street power from political oppression

I understand that this may be an utopian dream. But I can be allowed the right to dream for my community

I have Joined this group I am a prolific writer on economics and finance, have chosen to write for my brhamin community as well. More revolutions to come from our side soon. I am currently working for an Investment Bank in Singapore as AVP. Keep mailing. I will also start sharing my views soon.

Namaskaram,

I am happy to see a forum for the Tamil Brahmin community.

I am proud to be a Thamizhan and a member of the Brahmin community. (not caste)

Though my profile may not say so, I am an old man who has entered into Vanaprastha Ashrama years back.

I believe that the community should do some soul searching.

I will be raising some questions which I believe the younger generation should ask themselves.

I am sorry if my way of talking is straight to the point, as I have very little communication with the outside world. Having reached the final stages of life it does not really matter.

Chenthamizh Nadenum Pothinile Inba then thamizh payuthu kathinele.
