Dear All,

Please find the link (also attached file) that contains elaborate (step-by-step) information on Yajur Veda Avani Avittam/Upakarma ritual. Per scriptures, the actual Upakarma should be performed after Madhiyanikam and Brahma Yagnam which is well after noon. Please do it as you see appropriate. I have left the timings, star, etc. as placeholders to be filled up based on consulting with priests/elders based on your location.

Post Upakarma

The upakarma is done every year by ordinary grihastaas. As Brahmin at least once in a year, he should either recite the Veda or just do shravan or hear, duly after doing Deva Tharpanam, Rishi Tharpanam and Pitru Tharpanam. As in these days you cannot do it daily, the aged and wise have ordained us to do Upakarma by formally accepting to do that way. Subsequently, there is a ritual followed called "Utsarjan" with which we give up reciting Vedas till next Shravan. Readers well versed and competent can elucidate the significance of the procedures more in detail. All the best.
