Hello
My Grandfather (Father Side) died peacefully in sleep at the age of 93 years last year in October (2017). As per Hindu iyer tradition, are we allowed to perform Janmasthami and Ganesh Chathurthi festivals this year in 2018 as i am a father of 2 children (3 year old daughter & a 10 month old son) and wanted to introduce them to the festivals.
Many say that his death is a known as "Kalyana Saavu" (as its 90 plus of age) and thus is OK to celebrate and have the Ganesh idol and Krishna idol stapana at home during the festivals. We would not have any sweets / Neivedium done in order to celebrate as a mark of respect but would like to have the idols stapana in the home for the Janmasthami and Ganesh Chathuthi
Please clarify.
Many thanks
