Question on Upanayanam date and food for brahmanas

    Namaskaram,

We are planning our son's upanayanam within the next year and are planning to do Udhakasanthi and Nandi on the day before the upanayanam in the evening around 6 pm. That day happens to be Ekadesi thithi and we were wondering what kind of non rice based items/tiffin items we can offer to brahmanas and also people. While we understand that some brahmanas may not eat at all, we atleast want to offer kanji, fruit salad etc. Can someone please advise on evening tiffin items that can be consumed by all on Ekadesi thithi and the next day morning is the upnayanam, which falls on dwadesi. Please suggest any specific menu items that we can add to the food after the upnayanam function since its dwadesi. Thank you for your feedback.
