Alternate pragmatism

What we generally mean by pragmatism is based on the notion that humans are inherently flawed. So being practical implies being shrewd, catering more to self than others and so on. But what if we alter the fundamental notion about humans. That is humans are inherently perfect and the flaws are just acquired and not in their permanent nature. I think with great collective effort it is possible to come to this understanding of humans which can dramatically alter the society and the quality of life of people.

If genuine efforts are made in this direction of enlightening people, we can elevate ourselves beyond imagination.

Think about it folks.

It is just the difference between instant gratification and long term satisfaction. The 'great collective effort' you mean, requires the world to exercise a tremendous amount of patience to root out their acquired flaws and to always focus on the inner perfection that is the birthright of every human being (What we call the atma). The 'practical', 'shrewd', 'respectably selfish' people will have to give up their smart skills. But the world is created out of the tri-gunas and it is impossible to elevate the entire world to a constant awareness of their inherent nature. The only thing possible is to elevate ourselves individually and thus get out of the mad world.

It is my belief that the evolution of universe will actually happen in its latter half. We are somewhere at that point. Just as there was constant tussle between materialism and spirituality as played out in the yugas, with materialism giving a stiff fight, nevertheless the undertone will slowly turn towards spirituality until it gets pervasive and eventually making the universe end as one with the ultimate energy.

So there is abundance of hope for alternate pragmatism and people will see a whole new perspective in it and be struck by the quality of life that ensues.
