"The Yantra is grounded in the Bindu, the blissful union of the male and female principles representing God. Both these principles spread out in a golden ratio representing creation. Swaying from the current patriarchal mode of religious worship, the Yantra represents the male and female principles as equal. Paradoxically sounding in language, the principles are in unconditional love with each other but in necessary competition for Creation. The Bindu is the Sun divided into 16 parts representing the phases of the moon. The tantric idea of Amakala is represented in the region where the Bindu spiral begins and ends. The Yantra is also a lotus with 16 petals representing the Moon. The five concentric circles surrounding the Bindu represent the 5 elements or the panchabhutas. The Yantra can be seen as the Divine Eye that weeps in infinite bliss. Mantras of the Mother Goddess Isis were chanted and written on the paper prior to the work. The instruments used in the artwork, including the inspired maker, represent the Male principle. The Bindu is also the Sun surrounded by the 8 other planetary principles. There are other aspects that I leave the viewer to explore and interpret. The smudges are a signature of several memories."
