Why Do Dictators Wear Uniforms?

Whenever someone mentions dictators, Hitler with his hand raised, standing on a platform amidst multiple soldiers in a military uniform comes to mind. Thinking about it, Stalin too is famously remembered in his crisp uniform.
That leads us to this pertinent question- Why, why do dictators wear uniforms?
Is it because it’s cool?
Historians have not ever thought of this question and most might point out- there are some dictators who have ditched the uniform.
However, if you sit down and think, there are multiple reasons why a military uniform might be popular with most of the dictators.
In history and mostly at the time of the World Wars, the famous dictator trio of Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin had all participated in wars before by taking part in the military.
Mussolini did a brief stint in the corps of the Italian army, Hitler fought in the WW1 and Stalin was a General during the Polish-Soviet War in 1922.

[h=3]The Message a Uniform Gives[/h]Any Military uniform makes a person look disciplined, agile and invincible. This might have also been a major factor in wearing uniforms.
In tough times, such as the World War, the Armed Forces were the strength of a nation. Wearing this uniform could convey to patriots and traitors alike that the dictator was trained in armed combat and as vicious and strong as any army man.
Uniforms also make people look shrewd and smart. Have you ever noticed this? Have a look at one picture where you’re wearing a uniform. There is something about an ironed shirt, batch and those grim colours that make heads turn for a second look.

[h=1]Why do people love their dictators?

Propaganda is an extremely powerful tool. Most people think they are smart enough or strong enough to withstand it. But I have seen even smart, educated and experienced people succumb to it if they take it daily in large doses.[/h]
Propaganda will attribute everything positive to the beloved national leader: thanks to him our country is great, he valiantly keeps our enemies at bay, thanks to his leadership we have food and clothes, he built the houses for us, he punishes terrorists and criminals, he fixes wrongdoing wherever it happens, he builds hospitals, supports arts and sciences, he wrote schoolbooks.

Repressions.

Different dictatorship apply varying degree of these, mostly dependent on economic situation. General rule is: less money = more repression. Repressions mostly support propaganda by eliminating any dissenting views that may blunt its impact.
The fear they instill is a secondary feature, but also very powerful - because it makes the mere thought of dissenting terrifying. This terror permiates everything, but since it is an unescapable constant - it’s forced into background, people get used to it so much that they don’t even notice it anymore.

Societies that lack certain cultural frameworks and institutions that promote and sustain liberty are very susceptible to being over run by totalitarians. Hungarian history tells us that it’s possible to entirely infiltrate, subvert and over run a society in a shockingly short timeframe, on the order of five years.

There are lots of people with military or police background who only know and respect of Uniformed authority figure, are in heart against any freedom for others.
They want to crush anybody questioning their POV.
They do not believe in social changes or democracy.
Majority of revolutionaries and freedom fighters were put down by Military and Police personnel.
These Uniformed people served the oppressive master.

So one should respect the person behind the uniform (if they deserve), not the uniform.

There are also lot of people with religious and spirituality back ground following the principles laid down by saints who were Robes which is also a uniform spread dharma and love among the community.

They are for freedom from material desires, there is no oppression or depression.LOL

There are Buddhist Monks who wear Monastic Robes

These Robes serve not just as a kind of Uniform to remind the wearer that he is a member of the larger universal community and to ward of from the touch of insects, wind, sun, etc and for keeping them decent.

They are against violence and spread love and brotherhood.

But they are persons who are only known to pass scathing remarks with their highly limited knowledge, without knowing the truth and facts.

Some use to see everything with a coloured glass. They need to change their glass.
