Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing an election vicotry speech at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi, paused his speech briefly for few minutes for to azaan.

The prime minister's gesture was met with loud applause by the BJP workers who had gathered to celebrate the party's successes in the Northeast.

The BJP won the Tripura election and looks set to be part of the new Nagaland government. In Meghalaya, the BJP may have a chance at being in power if it manages to stitch together a post-poll alliance.

PM Modi was expressing his joy over the BJPs performance when he paused for azaan. After the azaan was over, PM Modi continued his speech with a chant of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

This is not the first time, PM Modi has stopped a speech for azaan.
