They are harvesting bones and organs of the elderly...
Tamil Nadu Christian NGO accused of harvesting bones and organs of the elderly

Shocking allegation against an NGO named St. Joseph’s Hospice have emerged, which include beating sick inmates and using their dead bodies for harvesting bones. Some reports have also alleged that it is also involved in harvesting organs of its inmates and selling it to other countries.

The hospice, which calls itself a ‘Home for Dying Destitute’, was founded by Father R. V. Thomas in 2011. The same Christian pastor is also running similar hospices in Dindigul and Paleshwaram. A hospice is a Christian equivalent of an Ashram where sick and destitute are supposed to be taken care of.

An article about an unauthorised vault being used to cremate the dead had appeared in The Hindu newspaper on 3rd February. However, this article had not included details of treatment meted out to inmates and allegations of bone harvesting by locals.

Now a Tamil channel named Thanthi TV has come up with a ground report, which has brought to light the allegations of locals against the the NGO.

The investigation into the St Joseph’s hospice in Palaswaram in Kanchipuram district, continues with officials carrying out a complete probe into the several allegations of organ trade, ill-treatment of senior citizens and whether the home has obtained permission to bury people in vaults. Once the probe winds up, the officials are expected to take action based on their findings.

Recently, a team of 60 officials from Tamilnadu government, who inspected the orphanage, said around 60 people have died at the institution in January alone.
Locals here allege that they have always been suspicious of the place and have seen elderly people running away from the premises and sometime hear screams from the campus.

Storing corpses of inmates in bunkers...

    This Home came under scanner

Revenue Officials reportedly shifted 86 inmates out of total 285 immediately and the exercise of shifting will continue..

St Joseph’s hospice in TN, that moved corpse, elders with veggies, to be shut down

The RDO confirmed that the hospice – and their cemetery – were being run without licence.

The St Joseph’s Hospice in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpet will be shut down immediately after the senior citizens residing there are shifted to other homes. The order, given by the Revenue Divisional Officer, came days after the hospice – a ‘home for dying destitutes’ – came under the scanner for transporting two senior citizens and a corpse, along with vegetables, in a truck that was dressed as an ambulance.
Speaking to TNM, the RDO, Noor Mohammad, said, “The primary reason for the shutting down is that the hospice does not have a licence. It has been operating its cemetery too without a license.”

On the elderly who were being housed at the hospice, the RDO said, “We are shifting all of them today to another home. No matter how long it takes, they will be taken to another government home tonight. We will enquire about their addresses and move them to the a place of their choice.”

The RDO declined to comment on the exact nature of the violations as the police inquiry is still on.
According to reports, 86 of the elders at the hospice were being kept there without their consent.
