Hope this is the first part of the article.... it may continue and finally conclude with a STRONG message....let us wait.

Here is my part...

When these young minds step into a law university, first day, they will sit silently, watch everything with great curiosity, observe the activities, surroundings, behaviour of class-mates, their style, attire, body language, few enjoy great achievement of getting a seat in the University. Meanwhile, their minds will start passing judgement on all other things they see and on others which includes their faculty members, staff, etc

There are students who would have joined the University with great ambition, few with colour dreams, few pursuing passion and few for compulsion of family.

Next subsequent days, they will form groups, like minded students join together, associate themselves with different activities. This group will develop differences with other group, there will be rubbing and conflicts. At times, there will be split inside groups due to politics for obvious reasons.

While few are busy with their IPC, CrPC , library, debate and all other umpteen number of laws enacted in our by our law makers, few will be busy with internal test, projects, few chatting about current politics, movies and few looking for opportunity to gain lime light.

On the other hand, the governing body consisting the teaching and non-teaching members will busily be thinking of shaping these young minds as a great upcoming lawyer. And it takes five years to shape them all into a lawyers with various syllabus covering arguments, law of evidence, arbitration, cross-examination, presentation of case, etc

After five years they come out as a graduate with a powerful degree and enroll themselves and start practicing. They will affix stickers ‘ADVOCATE’ in their vehicles and threaten other follows. Some look for great Master to learn and to practice as a junior.

And all those who come out of the University spending five years, learning the tricks and trade of the profession, never practice as
lawyers, some become politicians, some become business entrepreneur and join other services of Government, etc etc. And there are lawyers who retire the moment they come out of the University!

For few who consider this as a highest paid profession, continue to practice, and for few consider this as a prestige and hall mark of status try to remain in the profession, some lament and curse their fate. There are few families, where they will ensure their next generation is a lawyer. There are some who don’t recommend their children to become a lawyer.

While there are lawyers demanding several lakes as fee for a case, one can find lawyers at Courts anxiously looking for a prospective client for few hundreds.

There are some lawyers who are thorough with intricacies of various laws, there may be few who don’t know about themselves, where they are leading to, they don’t know their values, their interest and their abilities.etc with only goal of enriching their life.

While some of them end up as shining stars, some as leading politicians, some seeking publicity and some do end up as monks.

Perhaps the message may be life is unpredictable

It is an interesting article, but what does it convey?
Often after graduation in delhi colleges, slightly mediocre have nowhere to go.

LLB is a Godsend for them.

To be a success in life one does not need to be academically brilliant.

For Law students Delhi university offers a viable option for such students.

Staying as a student, with hostel and subsidised food, they can prepare for competitive exams.

They want good jobs and law college is an enabler.

Equally interesting are Teacher training colleges.

Most parents would like their daughters to join their program as preparation for arranged marriage.

Many prospective bridegrooms find it enticing to have those with School teachers training as wives as they perceive that these girls can combine marriage and

career.

For most boys and girls in colleges their main concern is jobs and decent life after marriage.

Law and education department provide the best options.

Others waste their lives trying to be academically proficient in science and arts course and most end up as failures in life.lol

hi

just info....when i was doing ph.d in delhi university....a lot of PG/Ph.d students are preparing for UPSC exams...mostly from bihar...

nice hostel accomodation/subsidised food too..this very common in south/north campus...

I was a student of delhi univ in early sixties. I foolishly believed that academic proficiency was key to good career. In retrospect I think collecting academic degrees displaying

scholarship without extra curricular activities makes one dysfunctional for work life. Only Govt can employ these types. They make poor husband material for girls.Thats why

girls chase bad boys. They make the best husbands.
