Ramblings Of An Idle Mind

Most think conventionally trying to live a lifetime to fulfill the requirements of Roti Kapda and Makaan .Many take huge loans to buy a house or flat of their own and pay off for a lifetime. Is it worth living this way?

A new breed of senior people are trying to think differently and learning to live for themselves .They would like to at best educate their kids and limit themselves to that. Even for this they would like to take education loans in childrens name and make them a party. They would like the children to pay them off after they get jobs.
Many think that marriage of children is not their concern. They would prefer them to find their mates and not spend on it.

Living for themselves means finding jobs that satisfy themselves anywhere in the world. Not buying property to leave for children as they know their kids anyway are not going to stay there anyway.Nor children are interested in inheriting property in remote city of india. They would prefer liquid financial assets. Many seniors are selling of their house/flat and move into rented flats in any city as per their own needs. This gives them mobility to go to any other city if they feel like.

Seniors would like to pursue hobbies, interests, jobs that make them happy. They would like to bond with strangers in social sites with similar interests. They would like to have the taste of freedom without commitments which they missed out when they were younger. They would like to go to exotic places as holiday destinations and live life to the fullest.

All these may be responses to rapid changes in society over the years where everyone is self centered and they are not being foolish in caring for themselves more .

I was reading about a mid aged couple who decided to not have children by choice as it would mean commitment and instead have decided to live for themselves fulfilling their desire and aspirations.I thought they were sensible.

Since life expectancy is greatly increased, still seniors needs to have emergency money for living atleast a year besides have a retirement corpus and great ideas to live differently in this new age.Seniors ought to think freely and make living after retirement a pleasure

Why not?? This is another method to control the population :boom: !!
There exist DINK couples and DINS couples too! :couch2:

The way the marriages are delayed, soon we will find MORE such couples!

Though the subject taken by me may not fit in to this thread I have posted the same for its irrelevance.
Its about the rantings of an old Gandhi family loyalist, Mani Shankar Aiyar calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “neech kisam ka aadmi” prompting him to use the caste card to hit out at Congress. The party suspended Aiyar from its primary membership and the A K Antony-headed disciplinary action committee issued him a show-cause notice.

Not new to such controversies — his remark about offering Modi a space to sell tea at the AICC was quickly picked up by the BJP in 2014 — and still used by them to garner votes !
When Congress is struggling to get foot hold in this elections, this man utters unwanted insinuation to spoil the hard work. This reminds the famous Tamil saying " நுணலும் தன் வாயால் கெடும் ".

Dear Brahmanyan Sir,

The moral of Mani Shankar Iyer's episode is:

When one is NOT proficient in a language, it is better to consult a good translator, before giving a speech!! :blah:

Madam,
This man born in Lahore and brought up in Delhi is well versed in Hindi, and can speak Tamil as well. Mani Shankar Aiyar is not new to controversy. It is part of his nature. He has involved in many controversies. He has issued controversial statements against Vajpayee also.
In an interview days before the run up to the 2014 Parliament elections he said that a tea seller,(chaiwala)
Narendra Modi can never become the Prime Minister of India, but can sell tea in AICC meetings. His comment was disowned by the congress party. Rahul Gandhi asked him not to make personal attacks.
This " Chaiwala" remark caused an irreversible damage to Congress and it was literally wipedout in the elections in 2014.

It is good that Congress took a bold decision to remove Aiyar from the party itself. Rahul Gandhi should come out of the grip of old coterie and continue the cleanup of Congress and give space to young leaders with fresh thinking.
