After his son has made public his plan to install a giant statue of Lord Krishna in his native village Saifai, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Sunday that Lord Krishna is revered across India and abroad while Lord Rama is worshipped more in North India.

"Theek hai, hamare adarsh Ram bhi hain aur uttar Bharat Ram ka bahut aadar hai. Lekin Krishna ko uttar se lekar dakshin tak sab mante hain(It's true that Lord Rama is our idol and is revered in North India. But Lord Krishna is worshipped across India-from north to south," said the SP founder at a function in Ghaziabad on Sunday afternoon.

Coming a few days after his son-former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav-announced to install a giant statue of Lord Krishna in Saifai, has created a flutter in the political circles. While Congress said that a senior leader like Mulayam should refrain from such statements, the BJP came down heavily on the Samajwadi veteran.

Why do our political leaders make a fool of themselves?

But its true isnt it?

Krishna is worshipped all over India.
Rama mostly in the North.

Even though Rama went right down to Lanka yet He is not much worshipped in South.

Other Divinities that has all India appeal are Ganesh and Shiva.

Vishnu too mainly in South.
In North its mostly avatars of Vishnu ..Rama and Krishnam

The worship of Anjaneyar & Ramar go together..In many temples there is a separate sannidhi of Ramar! But Anjaneyar is considered more powerful..How do you endear yourself to him..By chanting Rama--Rama ...

Rama has been given too much of importance and politicised, Naturally he faces criticisms also, especially in the South and more particularly in Tamil Nadu.

Krishna has not been exposed elaborately, especially thru Carnatic Music compared to Rama.

Namaskarams,

It is not correct to say that Lord Rama has been given much importance compared to Lord Krishna. Rama and Krishna are equally important in the entire Bharatvarsh. Lot of songs and keertanas have been composed by different vagkeyakaras on Krishna. Oothukkadu Venkata kavi's songs are dedicated to Krishna only. Bharatiyar composed lot of songs on Kannan. The so called "dravidic" scoundrals have created such picture in the South for their own benefits.

Normally, in Carnatic Corner, the majority goes to Rama, since the composer Thyagaraja is being given more importance, followed by Dikshithar and Shyama Shastri and the rest afterwards.

Oothukkadu might have written songs on Krishna but importance is not much, I feel.
