Government employees are the most agitative as their numbers are soaring while students and labourers also add up to the number of protests.

Indians appear to be more on agitation mode in the past couple of years with official statistics showing a steep rise in protests compared to the beginning of this decade.

Among them, government employees are the most agitative as their numbers are soaring while students and labourers also add up to the number of protests.

While the number of various modes of agitations rose by 14,415 for a period of four years between 2011 and 2014, the corresponding rise between 2014 and 2016 is 28,351.

Opposition leaders attribute the rise in numbers mainly due to the policies pursued by the Narendra Modi government, though a number of agitations were against respective state governments and local bodies.

"These numbers show there are a huge discontent and disillusionment among people. Government is failing to meet the expectations of people in fulfilling the poll promises. Our farmers, students, labourers and employees are on the streets. One has to think why it is so," CPI National Secretary D Raja told DH.

Though I don't believe the statistics or the news item given in Deccan Herald, (a Congress supporting paper,) it is true there is a dissatisfaction setting in the minds of people who voted for a change in Governance. Main reason is the the galloping raise in the prices of essentials from vegetables to groceries. Not all citizens are Government employees or pension earners to get revisions on cost of living index !
We expected over all reduction in prices after introduction of GST, but it has proved otherwise. The so called benefits are seen only in Government advertisements, however not reached the consumers.
"Aadhaar" linking is another big problem faced by honest people, we hope SC may give suitable decision to sort out the difficulty.
Yesterday the inauguration of BJP's Parivarthana Yatra by their President in Bangalore was a complete disappointment.
Most of the supporters showed their resentment by absenting from the meeting. There were more empty chairs in the ground.

I hope BJP responds positively to the aspirations of the voters who had voted them to power.

While I agree with Sri Brahmanyan's post, the following view is also prevailing among a large section of population at the political level. I present it as I received:

Does any one remember the name of the chief minister of Maharashtra during whose rule the Mumbai riots of 2002 happened?

Does anyone recall the name of the CM of UP during whose rule the Malliana, Meerut, Bhagalpur or Jamshedpur riots happened?

Do we ever hear the names of the earlier CMs of Gujarat under whose charge several riots happened in Gujarat?

Does any one remember who was in charge when the Delhi riots happened in 1984?

Then how come Narendra Modi has been singled out as the Devil incarnate for the 2002 riots in Ahmedabad?

Let us also remember this:

1. Gujarat"s agriculture grew by 10-11% since the whole of last decade.

2. Modi got for Gujarat Asia's largest Solar power plant.

3. Gujarat is the only state in India where electricity is provided to people 24x7 for 365 days in a year and this is done even to the 18000 villages there.

4. in 2011 world Bank made a statement that Gujarat Roads are of International standard.

5. Gujarat is the state in India where all the 18000 villages have high speed wireless broadband service.

6. Forbes magazine rated Ahmedabad as the fastest growing city in India and 3rd in the world.

7. According to Central Labour Bureau report Gujarat has the lowest unemployment rate in India

8. 2003-2013 is the decade in Gujarat's history when there were not a single riot.

And also remember this:

1. 1947 Bengal (partition riots) 9000-10000 killed and scores missing not yet traced-Gongress ruled.

2. 1967 Ranchi riots-200 killed-Congress in power.

3. 1969 Ahmedabad riots 512 killed- Congress in power.

4. 1970 Bhiwandi riot 80 killed- Congress in power.

5. 1979 Jamshedpur riots 125 killed - Communists ruled.

6. 1980 Moradabad riots- 2000 killed - Congress rule.

7. 1983 Nellie Assam riots-5000 dead-Congress ruled.

8. 1984 Delhi riots - 2733 dead-congress rule.

9. 1984 Bhiwandi riots-146 dead-Congress rule.

10. 1985 Gujarat riots 300 dead- congress rule

11. 1986 Ahmedabad riots-59 dead-Congress rule

12.1987 Meerut riots - 81 dead- Congress rule

13. 1989 Bhagalpur riots 1070 dead- Congress rule

14. 1990 Hyderabad riot-300 dead-Congress rule

15. 1992 Mumbai riot 2000 dead Congress rule

16. 1992 Surat riot 175 dead- congress rule

When Congress speaks about blood in hand and mauth ka saudagar,it is pure hypocrisy and a lot of BS.

People of this country want not riots but development. So let us speak about Development. Forget 2002 and speak about 2022. Where are we going to be by then?

We had "great Golden days" but that was Gupta period in North India.
We had terrible days under Aurangjeb days.

Does it matter today, now?

Empty promises do not fill my hunger today.

3 years is too long, for slogans and brilliant speeches.

It does matter when the maaman or machaan of Aurangzeb comes and says Gupta's great grand son is tainted.

At the end of the fifth year I get my chance to vote. Till then I will wait. i wont take these "mauth ka saudagar" nana nani ki kahaaniyan. I am not as gullible as these dalals of Quatrochi would like to make me.

If there is any one party which is completely unfit to rule this country, it is Congress.

If it is going to be Congress mukht bharath I will be the happiest. Good riddance.

Dear Sri "Vaagmi",
I fully agree with the views expressed by you (in post #3). But we can not just ignore or wished off the development what we see today is based on the infrastructure created by previous regimes, which ruled the nation from 1947 to 2014.

I belong to a generation which had seen colonial India freed from foreign rule.

I have seen the metamorphosis of a feudal nation with 565 States united into a strong democracy of India by Nehru and Patel, which could stand united for 70 years.
It was Nehru’s farsighted vision and leadership responsible for developing modern science in our country. He established a modern scientific and technological infrastructure to promote scientific temper. All the major IITs and IIMs
And research establishments were started during his period only. Similarly Nehru was a great visionary statesman who shaped modern India with industries like Bhilai Steel Plant or industries like SAIL,BHEL and many state owned industries. Nehru also paid great attention to agriculture with improved irrigation to eradicate famine from our Country. Bhakra Nangal, DVC, Hirakud and many major and minor dams were built during his rule. He laid foundation for education with scientific temper and universities like JNU and many others and established Institutes of Science etc. He established AEC for research in atomic energy. Nehru thus tried his level best to shape a modern state with non-aligned identity.
He never encouraged power transfer to his family members during his life time.
This development activities continued even after the passing away of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. How ever it started downward trend after the Congress lost its political mandate.
Let us hope all that we have gained in these 70 years will continue without break. Development is a continuous affair . Let us support the sincere efforts of our PM to make this Country a better one.

I agree with your post, but we are in the minority.
Today's generation has forgotten all the sacrifice and great leadership of yesteryears.

Modi is a good leader and visionary, but he is building on the foundation of leaders before him, yes he takes pot shots at them, and his followers only see that part about Nehru. It is sad.

Dear Sri Brahmanyan,

I agree with you on Nehru's contribution to this country's development. No doubt, he laid the foundation on which the subsequent generations have built this country. And I salute that visionary's foresight.

After Indira Gandhi and then PV Narasimha Rao, The Congress Party has lost its script. It has been taken over completely by Time Servers and men of poor quality.

And It is time that a new group comes to power with fresh ideas that will work here in the current situation. PVN did a wonderful service to the nation when he did exactly this and introduced radically different economic agenda to a party which was in a deep coma. And he did it at the right time and in right pace. After him it is again the same old story we hear. I consider PVN to be the most bold and intelligent politicians after Nehru and Indira.

Right now, congress is a spent force with no ideology to rally people around. PVN dumped the Democratic Socialism lock stock and Barrel. Now they are still searching for something to rally people around. They are failing in their efforts. And committing a number of mistakes in the process. Also there is a pathetic lack of leadership in that party. Dynastic inheritence helps only upto a point. The leader has to prove. And that is not happening.

It is here that I see a ray of hope in BJP the other large political force in the Nations firmament.

BJP too has a weakness in over playing the religion card. But I believe it is a carefully thought out strategy to deliberately do that to carry people with it. Political power and responsibility that goes with it imposes restrictions on any party and BJP can not be an exception. One positive aspect is that BJP is far less corrupt than Congress and that is a huge advantage.

These are the reasons why I would prefer to give a chance to BJP than to Congress.
