Namaste!
My in-law aunt who had no family (her husband passed away long time back and no children) and she stayed with my in-law. She passed away few years ago on ekadashi thithi in February. In her life she followed ekadashi and all the necessary fasting. My in-law family informed the priest that she doesn't have a family other than them and The priest while doing her last rites (13 days) informed my in-law and also my in-law brother that he will recite a special mantra (as she don't have family ) for the soul to go to heaven and we don't need to perform yearly shraddham and should not disturb that soul who has gone to heaven. I am confused about this. Can we do some prasadam on ekadashi mahalaya paksha to temple and think about soul? Is that OK? I have heard about mahalaya paksha stories and wanted to know whether we can do that or any way for the soul to remain happy wherever she is.
Thank you.
