Hi All,

In 1983 a film directed by
G. V. Iyer named Adi Shankaracharya was premiered, the first film ever made entirely in Sanskrit language in which all of Adi Shankaracharya's works were compiled. The movie received the Indian National Film Awards for Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Audiography

PS: Request Veterans to throw some light on this venture & G V Iyer and how it was received at that time it was a bold movie made during Anti Hindi Era

There were no issues in releasing the film...Audience response though was lacklustre..There are only 3 films made in Sanskrit so far..Other 2 being Bhagwad Gita and Priyamanasam
