Great Indian Health Care.

What happens to middle class when they suffer from some ailment?

This happened to me.

I believe I am very healthy and hardly ever fall sick.

Only Iam diabetic under control

In fact I had been boastful about my health.

Then something happened. My palms started itching and got red.

I thought it was allergy to something I consumed and went to chemist oppoisite who gave me tablets for bacterial and fungal allergy. After couple of days,my neck

muscles and behind ears started paining.

I rushed to my family doctor who diagnosed it as bacterial allergy, gave me anti biotics , vitamins and crocin for fever.

After five days of that, I stopped

Since pain had reduced, I stopped the medicines.

Suddenly the pain reappeared.

When I went to doctor again, he had gone away on leave.

The replacement there was a gynaecologist- yes you heard me right. An old lady in sixties with credentials of working in govt hospital.

She was very kind and treated me like the way she treated new pregnant women.

Very motherly , full of consideration she heard me and suggested I take some liquids in small bottles she gives I suspect pregnant women. She gave another anti

biotic and diagnosed my ailment has something to do with my teeth.

She told me to go a dentist after the course of anti biotics.

Now I do not know what to do?

I suppose wait it out until the family doctor returns from leave or get my teeth fixed.

In india one can keep on going around in circles until one gets tired or ailment goes away on its own

Some helpful relative told me to try ayurvedic oils [there are some liquids in small bottle for instant relief].

i decided to try it out.

Nice smelling with burning sensation which makes neck go numb.

I thought best decide I am OK and go and see some films or dabble in stock market or this forum and decide i am alright until allergy reappears again.

Most of the common allergic conditions give relief to Antihistamines. However some rare conditions do not react fast. My grand daughter has cold and sneezing for a long time, that refuse to go in spite of continuous medical attention. Doctors say she should develop natural resistance.

I used to take anti biotics along with steam bath for severe cold & heavy phelgm...It used to be so regular almost every fortnight! Then I stopped taking those medicines...I am much better now by taking some basic precautions!! The more you get addicted to anti biotics the more is the pain

Continuing with my allergy story, my status got worse. .Boils started sprouting on head, behind ears, near eyes..

Out of desperation went to the dentist as the gynae had suggested.

He did an x ray of the total head.

Xray showed infection behind one tooth.

He has given me another set of antibiotics. Some relief with that.

But some problem with eye started because of boil near the eye. I have started seeing multiple images.

So some shots of B complex warranted I suppose.

All this is bizarre.

I go with an allergy and scratching on palms. I end up with every type of specialists with multiple problems and solutions.

Something is wrong with the way we treat patients for ailments.

I sincerely hope I do not land up in hospital for more tests and treatment just because my palms itched and got red a month back.lol

Dear friend,

I sympathise for your sufferings due to adverse skin ailment aggravated after taking medical treatment.
It reminds of my suffering during the war time when I was a young boy, due to Scabies another dirty skin infection, which did not get cured by allopathic treatment of those days. At last on the advise of a friend my mother took me to Arya Vaithyasala, newly opened in Coimbatore. I was examined by the famous (Late)P V Rama Warriar, eminent Arya Vaithyar, of those days, himself and prescribed Ayurvedic Medicines for three weeks. To our surprise the skin condition improved steadily and the ailment cleared fully in Three weeks time.
I have no idea whether such treatments are available today.
However I wish you all the best and come out of your ordeal soon.

Dear Krish Sir,

Sorry to read this horror episode!

How much I wish, you had consulted my doc brother, who spots the correct problem and treats with minimum medication!

What to do, you live far far away!

Thanks all for words of suggestions and sympathy for my plight.

It is only a minor nuisance.

It exposes the status of health care.

There are some excellent profesionals and others not so good.

Ultimately only the gynae who had years of experience in treating hundreds in govt hospital gave the right prescription .

She directed me to the dentist who Xrayed the head and located the cause. His treatment is taking effect,

Since it is affecting one eye also -nothing serious -Multiple images and seeing two of everything-I suppose shots of B complex will restore it. This is a past ailment.

Still I recall pricks of B injections at a special place, lol

Dear friend,
If the skin condition is affected due to "shingles" which is known in Tamil as "அக்கி" is a painful condition, but fully curable.
Wishing you speedy recovery,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.
hi

for shingles.....ALOE is best medicine.....even shingles shots are available...

Take allergy test before EACH shot of B complex, Krish Sir!

I have seen a friend, who had a narrow escape from collapsing, after the third shot!

Better to go for oral drugs. Please take care!

Thanks for the warning.

I prefer oral drugs normally

By friday, my boils are likely to go away, until then no harm in seeing multiple images.

Adding B complex tablets. Shall go to eye specialist if the double vision does not go away in next two or three days.

I love life too much to die in a stupid way

Not to worry, Krish Sir!
All your forum friends will pray for your speedy recovery.
Thanks to all.
I am an optimist looking at everything in positive light and going thru such experiences makes me a little wiser about living.
I should not boast about my good health and control my desire to consume anything put in front of me.
Lesson being learnt too late in life.lol

I would like to share my near death experience, due to allergy to penicillin, when I was in my last teen!

My doctor dad was mentioning that penicillin is a wonder drug to cure pimples and I wanted to take one shot, to get a pretty face!

He warned me that some people are allergic to that drug and gave a test dose. Actually, I felt some itching but did NOT tell my

dad. The shot was given and I went to sleep in the bedroom, upstairs. Within two minutes, my lips were itchy and swollen and face

became horrible! The itching spread all over the body and I felt like a sword inserted inside my tummy horizontally and it started

pushing all the inner parts of the tummy outside! OMG! It was a horrible experience! I rushed downstairs and was about to faint
.

M
y dad knew what had happened. Immediately, gave me an antidote shot. After a few minutes, the stomach ache subsided but

later on, I got good DOSE of scoldings from both dad and mom!

My friend had a similar experience with the third shot of vitamin B complex! Dad saved her too! :thumb:

Moral: Never tell lies to a doctor!

Allergy is a dicey thing.

I am allergic to sulpha drugs.

Before taking any prescription , I tell the doctor about this and my diabetic condition.

Once My skin got bluish due to allergy and it peeled off. I was looking partially like a roasted chicken.

That was when I was young.
One hardens as one grows old.

I suppose one learns to expect the unexpected and stay calm and composed.

But those with us get rattled and start getting sleepless nights.

Coping with a person with a health condition is difficult.

I stayed with an office colleague who had mentally cracked up. After treatment,I offered to stay with him on request from his relatives.

To keep himself occupied, he would play beethoven and bhaja govindam on his sterio with big speakers upto one or two in the morning.

I got used to him.He is now one of my best friends.

It takes all sorts to make this world

hi sir,

sometimes ayurvedha treatment gives miracles...u can try.....no side affects....nothing wrong...

hi sir,

Generally true. But sometimes the drugs in Ayurveda medicine might contain Sulfa compounds. So you got to be careful.

The eye specialist I consulted had something new to say.

He found double vision in one position of looking downwards.

Also found cataract growing in that eye.

So some justification for abnormal vision.

Got some eye drops and some more medicines..

So finally allergy gets traced to infection beneath a tooth and cataract in one eye.lol

I have consumed antibiotics to last a life time and paid medical folks a few thousands to know what is wrong with me.

It is not big diseases that bother but this type of petty sufferings because of a tooth or skewed eyesight.

By the way world looks pretty colourful and better when seen in multiple images.lol

Continuing with my health story,I decided to consult the best eye fellows -shroffs in delhi. An youngster girl there after examining simply said It has to do with the power of my

specs I was wearing and cured the eye problem recommending the right power of specs.

Then the allergy issue.A kindly doctor -south indian youngster, simply told me that my ailmemts are due to overdose of antibiotocs and recommended detoxing to get rid of

the issue. I had taken three types of antibiotics with multiple blood and urine tests costing a fortune. I decided to listen to him.

In the mean time my son in bangalore got concerned and simply took me to a famous hospital in bangalore where a renowned doctor simply subjected me to ultrasound

and endoscopy and gave me a clean chit .Simply said nothing wrong with me and told me to enjoy my life and not take any medicines. The antibiotic effect will wear off and

I can return to normal life.So I have decided I am alright after three months of horrifying experiences. I have sworn to never trust any doctors.lol

Welcome back, Krish Sir! Your last post was exactly two months back!

I know how confused you are because without the suffix Ram, you mistook me for some other Raji in your family! :D

Keep away from specialists and enjoy good health!! :thumb:

Thanks RRji.

Well with all the health mess I have gone through,I have lost faith in the indian health care and specialists .

Most medics are only interested in making a fast buck from specially those who are covered by medical insurance..

Somewhere some sanity should come into this rip off of the gullible public.

I suppose it should start with medical education in govt institutions based only on merit and bringing in a new set of professionals with some ethics.

There is no alternative to meritocracy in medical and technical institutions .

Dear Krish Ji

As you rightly pointed out ethics is important but not just "some" but is of paramount importance. Everything else will follow with it.
