I had heard that nairs, who r FC in kerela r obc in TN,because they r linguistic minorities.similarly r tamil brahmins living in other states classified as OBC?
ALSO COULD ANYBODY GIVE AN APPROXIMATE LIST OF FORWARDCASTES IN INDIA.what is their percentage. Is IT AS MEAGRE AS 10%?.

Are tamil Brahmins OBCs ouside TN

There is no caste based survey in India since 1931. Even the 1931 census was faulty in many aspects. Most of the estomates guess work on the basis of 1931 survey and also on the basis of National Sample survey. The polititians do not want any caste based census as this will bring the true picture of the various castes. In tamilnadu the estimated FC is 10 to 13%. This estimate is also guess work of the bureaucrats.

I am sure that Tamil Brahmins are not classified as OBCs in two of the neighbouring States, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. However, in Karnataka, Warriers ("Ambalavasi" or "Pushpaka" Brahmins of Kerala who are a forward caste there) are indeed classified as OBCs. So you do find them sometimes, coming from Kerala to make use of this "loop-hole" in Karnataka.
