Direction to face is not what is referred here? All of us will have such an impression on seeing the title!
Here Iam referring to 1) if the performer should sit on the floor ( kattan tharai), 2) can put a vastram ( some cloth ) and sit on it, 3) can put a wooden seat( palakai) and sit on it entirely ( no part of the body to touch the floor), 4) can put a wooden seat ( palakai ) and sit on it with the legs touching the floor, 5) Use a dharbai asanam ( there is a mat available made from dharbai), 6) Usage of animal skins ( deer etc) is banned now and is also not available..
From the various readings made in a small time by me indicates that the 5th and the 4th option quoted above is the best.. All other sitting posture will reduce the beneficial effects of the puja/ritual performed...
Any authentic referrences available? and if so, is it based on life experience of any characters in the various puranas?
